For me 911 Turbo has become a tool, not a car.
It is the fastest on the sunny, rainy or snowy days.
It just takes you from A to B in the fastest and comfortable way possible.
And for that I think this car is a little special. There's no competition for this. In 720S you won't drive in snow or rain, in Rolls Royce you won't be as fast and agile, nor the bentley. It is just one of a kind car, for wealthy people who drive a lot.

I don't agree on the Turbo S lacking character, except if character is defined by the exhaust note only. The performance this car delivers is absolutely mental. That doesn't only include straight line performance but track performance as well. While you can definitely feel the added weight in comparison to a GT3, the Turbo S is still more agile and especially more stable on the street than most other supercars. The performance is certainly more accessible even for less experienced drivers but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
To me, the Turbo S is an incredible performance car first and a comfortable GT car second, not the other way around. And that whole package is what I would say a unique character, unlike any other car in its segment. It's like that 1 friend that looks good, is super smart and you can always count on haha.

From my experience Turbo customers tend to be wealthier than other 911 varIants. Not just because this is a more expensive car, but in the sense that guys who already have/had Carreras and GT3 go for the Turbo as their daily driver. Those in the know see the Turbo as a “I have other desirable cars in the garage, this is just my daily.” kind of car. Higher spec Targas are gaining this image as well.

Other carmakers try to tap this clientele with the R8, AMG GT, M6/M8, Vantage, GTC4 Lusso etc but they just cant replicate that image. Hard to tell exactly why this is, but my guess is that the fact the Turbo looks exactly like any 911 to most non-car people give it a very discreet image that the appeals to the super wealthy choosing this as a daily driver.

I must be the inverse of Sam. All the reasons he wouldn't have bought a 911 Turbo S are the reason I would. This so-called 'character' that people talk about is another word for it being very loud and being twitchy and unpredictable. Give me a relatively stealthy car that can keep up with a Performante, or a TDF, or a 720S but makes none of the noise and I'm happy. I'd also get it in a dark grey.

The Turbo S is a brute of a car. The launch control is incredible.

I switched from a McLaren 570S to a 911 Turbo and I've not regretted it. Similar straight-line performance in the dry but the Porsche can it deliver 365 days of the year. Less turbo lag, less traction control intervention and far better stability under heavy braking are some of the 911 Turbo's major advantages, along with the ability to use the performance in any road condition. I miss the McLarens supercar good looks, but having been followed home twice in a month by "undesirables", there's something to be said for the Porsche's more understated appearance.

The other area where the Porsche triumphs is build quality. Finding out your McLaren requires 4 new body panels at 12 months old due to corrosion, isn't something that installs confidence for those seeking a long term relationship. It was enough to make me contemplate my McLaren ownership and switch back to a Porsche. For those seeking supercar performance in a car you can use daily, there's no better package than a 911 Turbo. I never get out of mine thinking it is boring.

The argument for the Turbo S over the GTs is right there in the title. As for lacking soul... fitted mine with a Kline inconel exhaust, cats & manifolds. Job done.

Barcelona has some of the best twisty roads that’s why many new cars debut there.

its not fair to say porsche set out to make the best they could, and that's the Turbo S. Because it isn't. They have the GT serious for that. What you are missing in character and "fun" from this car you will find plenty in the GT3, GT2 series. You have unfairly judged it on what its not meant or trying to be. This is a straight up mile muncher. Its a silent assassin.

991.2 Turbo S convertible as a fast sporty daily and a 997.2 GT3 RS for fun drives and track would be my perfect 911 garage :)

Most people say that it's a soulless car and yet they haven't driven one, so when they finally drive it they're stuck with this idea because they don't understand the car or simply because they want to appear knowledgeable about supercars. This car is amazing, fun to drive, hypercar fast and destroys every other supercar, it just does it effortlessly so it definitely is a supercar. Not as fun as a gt3, gt3 rs or gt2rs (on the racetrack) but you can't compare it to a gts, the turbo s is on another level

I know the turbo s has become more of a luxury sports car these days but my turbo s puts a stupid giddy smile on my face every time i launch off the line or even stomp on it at 120mph. Its a monster for sure.

I don't get this round the world thingy, why have u flown a car to Australia for a week or so to fly it all the way back? I would of flown the car to thailand maybe. I would have flown to New Zealand, then Aus, then head up to thailand to meet the car and then drove home from there.
And I am also desperate for a daily map of where you are and where you're going (topgear esque). I feel disconnected from the journal.
