When people think of Montauk the first landmark that comes to mind is the Montauk Lighthouse. Not many people know right next door is an enormous decommissioned military base home to countless conspiracy theories and the inspiration behind Stranger Things - Camp Hero.

Since there are countless "urbex" type videos on Youtube I wanted to go through the history and conspiracy theories as opposed to going in the buildings.

The music featured throughout is a SURVIVE-inspired song I made.

Side note; apparently I like to use the word "massive" a lot.

The time travel and mind control aspect of this story is what I’ve always been interested in.

1952 my dad had a UFO encounter in Montauk one night as he was fishing. A UFO appeared in the sky and descended towards him until it stopped 20 feet away and began hovering over the water. It was silent, had no i.d. or propulsion. He described it as rectangular craft 20' wide, grey color w/ yellow glow. It stayed 10 seconds and went straight up until it disappeared. My dad, a WW2 vet reported it to Camp Hero. They sent 2 men out who took photos & wrote report. Before they left, he asked them if they believed him and they confirmed he was 2nd person to report it.

Fellow Long Islanders. Go there. I went there 2 decades ago out of curiosity and was followed the entire time. Many, many areas are RESTRICTED with red letter signs. You can't even get close to the building with the giant radio dish. The place is absolutely still being run. Their tactic was to call it decommissioned, and keep it running, just move it underground. They don't expect people to treat it as a park to camp out, well because there is nothing to do there. And, you see unmarked SUVs follow you, even if you are just taking photos. And adhering to their signs. There are vents everywhere leading underground. And bunkers everywhere. There used to be a town there, where people lived. Abandoned homes, that look like they were built in the 50;s. You really can't go anywhere... Just don't be stupid and pass any of the MANY restricted areas. If it was decommissioned, they wouldn't monitor people who visit. And close everything off. This guy didn't see alien activity, but I saw a huge perfectly round circle of dead flat grass, surrounded by luscious green grass. I found that odd and took a photo. Then, the SUV showed up, tailgated us, with no license plate/tag, and I figured it best to head home. I overstayed my welcome. But it was a thrill. And at that time, I had no knowledge of the history of this place at all.

If you go to the permitted fishing area, there's a building just barely in the woods that has access to the tunnels. You'll need a screw driver/drill though, because they're boarded up. There's also access in some of the restricted areas. Just stay away from the unexploded ordinance areas.

Excellent video! I have the entire military history mapped out and have been in the basement tunnels below the bunkers. I have so much footage from 94/95, just suck at editing lol

The large tree less area with the 4 concrete pads in the middle next to the tower is an underground base, the tower connects with it through the main elevator, the main elevator would go down to it but it was concreted shut, every other way into the massive underground facility is concreted shut and there another large part underground on the opposite end of the tower

I knew a guy who was in the air force stationed there as a electronic tech in the mid 60s . I never knew that there was such a base in Montauk as you could not see it from the Montauk lighthouse or Heather Hills State Park. It was a Nike missile base I believe from the late 50s all the way into the 1970s. I did visit there about 15 years ago and now it’s just part of the state park system.

Amazing video! I’ve been going to Montauk for family summer vacations every year since I was not even 1. I’ve been very into the diff conspiracies and odd happenings out there and actually briefly dated a girl who was friends with Jenna Hewitt and Rachel Goldberg, two of the three girls who discovered the Montauk Monster. She told me that they told her the local authorities tried to dismiss it and then later cover it up. Also when I was a teenager in around 2005/2006 I tried to sneak into the Satellite tower and some strange military personnel came out of what seemed like literally nowhere and chased us away. This also happened to many kids I knew that would also stay out there in summer. I recommend anyone who does visit to def check it out it really is surreal and gives you this strange feeling when you’re there it’s hard to explain you just have to experience it for yourself.

I camped a Camp Hero last night with my Boy Scout troop and it was creepy. I stayed at section 1 camp ground (that's right next to the fake fishing village) and I explored the village at pitch black, last time I'm doing that! 😂 I love living in Suffolk County!

While I dont believe the supernatural aspects of what happened there. The government has done horrific things in the past. The mind control experiments are most plausable. I still think what happened there is more realistic and more unsettling.

Not kids from the area from all over the country! 1981 I was 13 no family got caught stealing coins from pinball machines at a bowling alley. I was put on probation. Thrown into a special school one day two Michigan state troopers show up at the school they said they were there to take me somewhere? I’m scared to death thinking I’m going to jail at 13 yrs old, then my probation officer shows up speaks with the to troopers, and they leave. He came over to me, and said boy I just saved your life again! You where going to Montauk NY I had no idea what he was talking about until 25 years later. He told them that I was a fighter you don’t want him.. The “teacher” at the school were groomers!

There is 100% still something going on there. While walking the grounds about 6 years ago, I lingered for about 10 minutes near the main cluster of buildings. 2 dudes in full tactical gear, with weapons came out and pointed at me! Freaked me out!!! My buddy Mike has a similar story from 15 years ago.
