Thousands gather at London pro-Palestinian march

A massive rally was held in London on Saturday to protest against Israeli attacks and demand an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

Thousands of protesters gathered at Parliament Square to voice solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 34,300 people have been killed by Israeli attacks since Oct. 7.

Carrying Palestinian flags, the protesters called for an immediate cease-fire in the besieged Palestinian enclave and criticized the British government's stance on Israel.

"Free Palestine," "Stop the genocide" and "Rishi Sunak, you can't hide, we charge you with genocide," were some of the many slogans chanted by pro-Palestine protesters during the march that continued toward Hyde Park. They also criticized Keir Starmer, leader of the main opposition Labour Party for his stance on Israel.

Protesters from various anti-Israel Jewish groups were among the participants in the rally.

Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip since the Hamas incursion, which Tel Aviv says killed nearly 1,200 people. At least 34,388 Palestinians have since been killed, mostly women and children, besides causing mass destruction, displacement and severe shortages of necessities.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to ensure its forces do not commit acts of genocide, and guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.

You can always tell whether a news outlet supports or condemns the protests. If they support it they call it a "pro-Palestine" protest. If they condemn it, they call it an "anti-Israel" protest. If they're truly unbiased they just call it a "protest." But, I'm not holding my breath on that one.

In the 1995 Yitzhak Rabin was prime minister of Israel. He was assassinated by a member of a right wing faction of a political party that the current Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was a member of. This occurred shortly after the Oslo accords in which a pathway for peace, was formed, with the recognition of a two state solution. Two days after a rally at which, Netanyahu made several inflamatory statements against Rabin's government, before he was assassinated. Many people in Israel to this day believe that Netanyahu was complicit in that assassination. In the last election Netanyahu gained power by a very small majority. On 21 November 2019, Netanyahu was officially indicted for breach of trust, accepting bribes, and fraud, leading him to legally relinquish his ministry portfolios other than prime minister. As of April 1st of this year the trial was still ongoing. Because of censorship this items has been delected the last several times I posted it. It is not an antisemetic statement. It is a statement of fact. Draw your own conclusions.
