A lot of people seem to be defending this so I’ll say in my EXTENSIVE experience with special teams, in no world do you ever reward a player for simply letting someone right by him. Yes he’s in good position which makes him not taking a shot that much worse. Trust me when I say he’s going to get chewed out in the meeting room today

You could probably make a 20 minute compilation of players doing nothing this entire season. This is far from the only egregious example of players not playing professionally on the field.

In the most generous take I can give, he must have thought he had more help on his inside. Like he really thought it was more important that he contain than make the tackle, and that someone else was gonna smoke the returner. That and he did actually get shook by the juke. It's a subtle step, but it completely wrong foots him. No excuse for the jogging though. When you get beat like that, you put the pedal down and try to make up for it.

The first man down there is supposed to contain the receiver. Tackle if possible. But contain him so he can't run anywhere. He didn't do either of those things.

I watched this over and over on dvr and was flabbergasted by the fact that 2 players missed perfect tackles and literally funneled the returner to the middle gap that was wide open.

This season has been the most obvious to the eyes of players being told when to let guys score, because vegas made the call based on live betting. The players are definitely in on it, it shows, and it sucks.

Aaron Rodgers used to do the same thing when he was in Green Bay the year that he got Mike McCarthy fired. He played when he wanted to. He flipped a switch and turned it on and off at will. It was sickening.

there was another play, allen took off from the pocket to get a long third down conversion, and the dolphins player, i can’t remember what number, just straight up stopped running and let allen fall forward to get the 1st down. this was before this punt return TD if i remember correctly. i was floored, but then realized i was watching NFL aka WWE.

I was watching a game a couple months ago where there was 2 or 3 players running down the field right in front of a guy carrying the ball, on the opposite team! All they had to do was turn around and tackle him. Instead, they keep running for about 10 yards until he's pushed out of bounds by someone behind them. Makes absol no sense.

There have been many games where bad calls by refs have decided football games! The NFL basically ignores the issues and says..."yep.... The ref missed that one... our bad"! And for them that is the end of the controversy because they don't want to address what is a massive problem in the NFL ....refs deciding games! They don't care because the money is still flowing so why rock the boat!
The biggest problem is that it is just not in football...every major pro sport has these officiating problems! The NHL is even worse! When players complain in the NHL they get told by the refs to " go F yourself"! Thank you for hot mics revealing those FU comments!

It’s really hard to be 100% sure if it’s true corruption or not . But I’ve also noticed how sometimes some half-assed efforts come right at the perfect moment for a touchdown to happen .
I remember in a recent Super Bowl, can’t remember which one, the line backer has a clear shot at stopping the runner in yard one, but he didn’t even try, which allowed the running back to score a touch down .
The problem is : what if — and this is a big if — the player is simply tired, hurt, sick, or simply doing a lousy job, just like we all do at the office sometimes lol
