A tragic beginning, a daring escape, and a rise to power. The steppe has come to life with gossip: could young upstart Temujin be the one to defy custom and unite the Mongol clans under one ruler?

Jamukha's "come at me bro" hand gesture MUST become a meme.
Or at the very least become prized merchandise

Moments in history I somewhat guiltily wish I was there for:
- the drunken food fight involving Temujin and the Jurkin

Why do I imagine a vision of Bismarck standing right next to Temujin grinning and winking while Temujin is wearing the Always Have a Plan shirt

I have never been so on board for the story of Genghis Khan. I'm so hyped for each episode at this point.

one more thing your forget, Temujin later caught the warrior whom shot him,
and while dragging him onto his public triall, the warrior was screaming and cursing him after he witness
Temujin executed the Taichiud leader, Temujin was impressed by his bold loyalty and gave him great reward, gave him a new name "Zebe" which means "arrow" in Mongolian language, Zebe is later made one of the 4 great generals of Temujin's army

I love the art style in these videos. The little scene where Temujin slides up behind the throne was great.

Holy shit. I honestly can't describe how much I love your videos. I personally love history, but I've noticed that friends who I've showed videos of yours to them, liked them as well. Literally last weekend, I had a friend over and I showed him the entire Ned Kelly story. After, I asked if he liked it, and he said he loved it, and wanted to watch more. You make history so accessible and can make people I'd never heard of some of my personal heroes, like John Snow. You also have the magic to make me interested in something I'd never even thought about. It pains me to see the end of the video, knowing I'd have to wait another week to get the next part. I can't wait for #4.

9:50 is a great example of what made Temujin really great. He didn't just nurture and reward loyalty, he was loyal himself.

The solid "umph" of the word extra in the intro is so unbelievably satifying.
You have really found a video style, pacing and a talking voice that makes listening a breeze instead of a chore. It may only be still frames, but I feel like history comes alive around here. I noticed that especially in the hunt for the bismark, you really sell the emotion and the urgency of the events. I love it!

...Did we seriously get the word "horde" from an aristocratic council, basically the least horde-ey part of Mongol society?

5:10 "Temmüjin will remember this" made me feel like I was in a telltale game. Great video, as always!

To clarify for those confused:
The Jurchen/Jurched were a Tungusic tribe (related to the later Manchus) from Manchuria who had established the Jin Dynasty in North eastern China, an empire with its capital at the modern site of Beijing. The ruler caste were all Jurchen, while they ruled over Han Chinese and Khitans, and they were the Chinese empire Temujin would have interacted with here.
The Jurkin were a Mongolian steppe tribe who were destroyed by Temujin here in this video. Important to understand the difference!
