Z-Wing Caddis Blog-Post & Recipe:

Z-Wing Caddis Ingredients List:

In this week’s episode of Tying Tuesdays, watch as Brady ties the Z-Wing Caddis! The Z-Wing Caddis is an all-time favorite of mine. It works wonders as a pupating caddis. I always look forward to warm summer days that I can tie this fly on with confidence. Another great pattern out of the mind of Umpqua Feather Merchants signature tyer Mike Mercer, the Z-Wing Caddis features pheasant tail and peacock herl. These are time-tested natural materials that fish love! The Z is for the Z-Lon, (substituted here with Sparkle Emerger yarn) which is excellent at shimmering and trapping bubbles to help this imitation reach the “next level”. During the right time of year on the right water, this fly will fish above all else. It excels higher in the water column and will encourage strikes at the end of a drift when your flies swing up slightly.
