"You love Elvis? Well that explains the hairdo." I don't think I've laughed this hard at anything else Bill has said.

Geez, are her friends so far left that they would have a problem with her talking to Bill Freakin' Maher? Indeed, the world has gone crazy

I am 75 and I am here to tell you when I was 22 there were tons of other 22 year olds who knew nothing about politics or history. I had a wonderful friend who looked at me one day and said " Your really are interested in all this shit, aren't you?" I caught the subtext and stopped talking to her about " all this shit". We talked about art, our families and that was that. I lived in France for a couple of years and sitting on a stoney beach on The Bay of Angels was told by a French acquaintance that she had no idea what had caused WWII but her father had explained that to some degree it was the fault of the Jews. I did feel obliged to stand up and walk away from her. Most of my friends in France were pretty well informed but there were always perfectly lovely people who held some fairly extreme beliefs. I had a very good friend who was an ardent admirer of Baader Mienhof. We completely disagreed. I had been in high-school when the FLQ ( Quebec terrorist organization ) had planted bombs at either ends of our school. The man who disarmed those bombs went on to another location and died trying to disarm the bomb there. It left me with a feeling that there had to be a better way to resolve political differences. There was the war in Vietnam. The expansion of the war into Laos and Cambodia. The riots in Chicago, the shooting of the students at Kent State . These young people are no better but definitely no worse than we were. What I am surprised by is that the institutions and civil forces have not developed more sophisticated strategies for dealing with these situations. We've had a lot of time and volatile situations over the years surely to God there is some way to allow for an expression of outrage without having to totally negate and cancel these young people. I have serious doubts about a lot of what people know of the Middle East and the conflicts taking place there but if we simply shut the conversation down here, when we are all on fairly neutral ground, what can we hope for as a resolution in areas where the conflict is existential. To be young and passionate is a good thing. We were all young we were all less than well informed. This is a process, one in which we will have an opportunity to grow.

If being gay is nobody’s business, then why is she talking about it so much? Stop talking about it. Nobody cares.

The value of Maher in our current world is not that he is "right about everything" or "Mr. agreeable". It is that his show and podcast is one of the few remaining places where a guest can disagree with anything and not be dismissed out of hand with some petty insult, which is what a large portion of the comments here are. Do better. Explain your better idea. Stop thinking your lazy snipe mean anything.

Swisher is too self-authoritative. No person should have a sex change until after age 21 when executive functioning of the brain has matured. Dismissing the concern bc it affects a minority is ignorant and insensitive.

Kara Swisher isn't remotely self-aware. She tells a tech guy "why do you care about gay man sex. It's none of your business" but then she accosts a stranger in a gun store and badgers her about why she needs to buy bullets. How about "it's none of your business, Kara?" She's a classic bully.

I’ve never seen someone subtly say the exact opposite thing, within three sentences of one another more than this woman.

Props to Bill Maher for breaking Kara's brain by pointing out that CRT/1619 Project is its own form of historical revisionism. Notice how quickly she pivoted off that topic...
