Three shows on Taylor Swift’s Eras tour were canceled in Vienna, Austria this week after intelligence authorities uncovered a plan by terrorists to target the venue. At least three people, who are 17, 18, and 19, have been arrested. The oldest suspect told police he had pledged his life to ISIS and planned to use knives and bombs to kill “as many people as possible.” Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber analyzes the latest information, as well as what goes into protecting large-scale events, with former NYPD detective Tom Smith.

Terrorism is not a phenomenon of randos influencing teens online. There is a whole culture in the perpetrators' real life community that is grooming their young for this from infancy. I'm seeing it happening in my own city and it's been like this in the middle east for many decades. These teenagers had plans and materials provided to them easy access by connected older adults. The local kingpins send the little guys to carry out the plots because they're considered disposable.
