Disney: No Magic Keys thank you

From now until January 4th, 2025, Disneyland will be at max price. $206 per guest for one park, and where NO MAGIC KEYS are eligible. Everyone is blocked it.

In this way, Disney is declaring this to be the single most in demand time of the year in the parks, and are seeking to take full advantage. Are they correct? Is there enough demand during this period? We have an answer to this question and I think some may not like it.

Join us as we take a complete tour around the park. Every land and every attraction. This is our State of Disneyland Report. This is Fresh Baked.

as a cast member out and about, the most annoying thing when magic keys are out, or just huge amounts of day ticket visitors is the difference in how guests act. lingering, is huge, right in the middle of major pathways. that video of all the big groups just standing in the way near smuggler's run is exactly what i'm talking about. they'll do that in the middle of route 66, parade routes, just halting the flow of guest traffic.

Former Disney Cast Member here. I worked Future World Attractions at EPCOT for 9 years. Dec. ‘84 to Jan. ‘94. I want to respond to your comment about attraction downtimes. There has always been attraction downtimes. But not like it is today. Maintenance used to have a club over their heads if an attraction would go down. The quality of the parks has gone down. But as long as guests are willing to pay outrageous prices to go to a Disney Park, why should Mickey be concerned.

I can’t imagine Magic Key holders adding to crowds these couple of weeks. Most people there don’t have Magic Keys and want to enjoy the holiday time with their families every couple of years. Magic Keys get to enjoy the parks all year long and even the holiday season. Let’s leave opportunities for other families to enjoy the holiday time every once in a while, like Disney is doing. ♥️

Can’t imagine paying $206 and having all those breakdowns. They totally screw up your day, because you have to have LLMP. It’s just not enjoyable.

Keep in mind that multi-day tickets are the same price all year round (not taking into account price increases), so for all of those guests that are coming to Disneyland for a multi-day trip, the Christmas period is as good as any other. I was there on the weekend of December 21-22, and I was even able to get a cheap hotel room for that weekend within a 20 minute walk from the front gates, so not even that was a cost penalty. The bottom line is, guests that are not locals will choose a time of year that suits their vacation plans, buy their tickets well in advance, and stick with it. They're not going to be looking at single-day prices because their trip will be 2-5 days at Disneyland. Having said all that, Disneyland does attract a lot of locals (I believe that its the majority of guests at the parks), and so those are the ones paying the $206 for one day. And so what David says in his video does apply to them.

Happy Holidays to all, especially to David for paying so much to let us know what is happening in the park we love so much.
I *love* the interior of Leota's gift shop.

It's crazy how the overall demographic in the parks change when there are no magic key holders.

you are forgetting about the disneyland 3 day ticket offer for 330$ for disney subscribers. You are missing a MASSIVE portion of the guest there

Now imagine paying $200+ per guest per day and running into multiple instances of attractions being down. Especially bad is you are caught in the line when the attraction goes down. The downtime for the attractions is telling an even bigger issue that no one is bringing up hard enough. Guests may be coming now, but eventually they will realize it is not worth it and tell others the same thing. Disney seems to only care about what is happening now and how much profit they can make.

Did Christmas day 2 years ago. Never again! Took 2 1/2 hours just to get into the park! Love your positivity Dave, but for me, the week of Christmas is a no go. Cant enjoy all the breakdowns, and high cost of tickets.... unless you get a churro, popcorn and a corndog. :-)

Disney doesn't need Magic Keys because they got your money and you agreed to not go for those two weeks already.. And you don't pay for parking . What good are you to them on this big vacation time. You signed your rights away and still paid them. Plus you will ruin it for the big payers.

I love that her portrait actually shows the woman who was the original actress for Leota, Imagineer Leota Toombs Thomas.

I’d say $150-$200 is a valid price point for Disneyland as I see the entertainment value equal to price per day as a popular music festival. BUT there are conditions that make that price point more valuable.

1. Crowd management, if the queues are packed, the streets are packed and I’m getting elbowed on Main Street.

2. Entertainment isn’t firing on all cylinders. If Fantasmic is dark, if there’s no random street shows that pop up as I’m walking by.

3. Attractions are constantly breaking.

I’d say the crowd in this video is just right for that price point. Anything more would make me feel ripped off.

I am really curious what percentage of those that bought the $206 ticket regretted it or felt it was worth it, factoring in crowds, long waits, sky high food prices. Wonder how many left feeling it was worth it.

I'm sure a large percentage of those people are there on multi-day tickets. And those cost the same per day no matter what day you go. January 25th or December 25th.

The fact disneyland raises prices and crowds are worse than ever each year tells your something is being mismanaged. They need a capacity cap when pateons make reservations and tickets.

It makes no sense to go on a weekend when you ride 3-4 rides all day long and spend a majority of times in lines. It sucks.

The most busy we have ever seen it was last March the week before the kid passes for 50 dollars expired. Adventureland was one big mass of people. No where to find a table to eat our food. A lot of rides were closed.
