DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE !! All ways disconnect the BATTERY before removing HID bulbs! To get the bulb out I used a mirror and the T10 torx driver. To get them back in I used a magnet to get the screws back in the holes and then pinned the screw with my finger. Then I slid the driver back in using my finger as a guild. Not fun but it can be done.

This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. THANKS!! This totally works. I suggest holding a magnet very close to your work as you remove each screw so it doesn't drop inside. Then I super glued the screw to a t10 driver to re-assemble with new bulb. It's fiddly but it works.

Thanks for the help it took me 4 hours. I dropped one screw and the plate fell off the bulb and fell inside. But I fished them out with a magnet. And I did it.

Great Tips! I used a T10 driver with a long (6") thin (magnetic) shaft to get around the plastic and Gorillas tape to tape reinsert the screws. Completed both with bulbs on AZ in 40 min for $40.! :)

I installed a Sylvania D3S HID into a 2013 Ford Escape Titanium, its a very tight working space. I removed the cowling to give me room to put my head down on the firewall near the negative battery cable connection and look straight into the headlight assembly. You'll need the hands of a surgeon and some chewing gum to remove the bracket retaining screws with a single piece T10 wrench, but it can be done. Use a magnet tool if you have one, right along side the torx wrench so the screw doesn't fall down into the headlight.

This just took me forever to get out. Not really the screws and such. Just the wiring harness. It doesn't have "normal" clips. After looking around with a compact mirror I figured out that it opens like a box when you push in the sides. The dealership wanted to charge me $300+ per side. I got both sides done for a bit less than $300. A little mirror and a magnet worked wonders.

I was going to change mine because I think they are getting dim. I'm going to wait a bit longer. I was trying to unscrew them to no avail. Thank you for this video, my manual said to take it to my dealer.

Did you get the new bulb installed? I have a 2013 Escape Titanium and one of the HID lights is going out. Dealer wants $1, 300 to replace them both. That is nuts. I'm gonna do it myself. Thanks for the video!

Worst designed headlight EVER! I am trying to replace both the low hid bulb and the high beam halogen bulb. It is like trying to build a ship in a bottle. My Volvo has two retainer posts that get pulled out and the whole headlight pops out...take 2 whole minutes on a bad day. Jeez. And they want us to buy domestic? Not with shit design like this!

My drivers side HID keep going off while driving and only comes on when i turn the light switch off and back to on. Could this be that the HID is bad or electrical problem.

Getting the screws back in is easy. Just use dumb dumb on the end of the driver. How do you get the connector off without mangling it?

Do you know the size of those tiny screws? I dropped one unfortunately. I might be able to get by with just 1 or using a different tiny screw - what do you think?

Would be nice to replace the HID system. So we can put LED’s when they wear out. I know other escape have normal Bulb. Think of just change the whole headlight format.
