I did 10 yrs in the NYPD and left for a better department. This guy knows nothing about the job. The city is broken and so is the NYPD

Nothing about being a NYPD officer is rewarding. The anxiety that comes with being a police officer is hell I don’t blame those who have left and are leaving! Be out it’s the best thing you can do for yourself and your family. They don’t care about you or your family.

Minimum wage in the United States is $7.25/hr. Of course the NYPD is seeing its workers leave. The entire country is sick and tired of living to work. Our parents and grandparents were retiring at 62 with full benefits, with mortgages paid and kids in or finished with college. My great uncle was a NYS Trooper and he retired at 55 with full benefits. Blue collar women in China today retire at the age of 55. The problem isn't the NYPD. The problem is America's ruling class has sucked the blood out of the working class.

Isn’t this what they want, no Police Department?

Duh? They risk their lives and criminals are immediately released - how much can they endure? Support law enforcement and not crime!

The problem is with the courts because when a criminal is arrested they get off lightly. Additionally, the police in NYC is a revenue producer for the city by issuing tickets for parking violations and other offenses having to do with public safety. I was born in the Bronx NYC in 1946 and I escaped from that piss hole in 1989. Best move that I ever made. Now I live on Whidbey Island in Washington State where the people are kind, generous and friendly. Also, I met great friends who love me and I love them back. How great is that ?

The State of New York has changed. Police aren’t the only New Yorkers skipping town……

walk into any precinct in NYC. You'll see 20-40 cops sitting around just eating and joking around

This guy Richard Esposito didn’t even scratch the surface of what the real problems are in policing today. Policing will wear you out especially in a place like New York.

The job is demanding and the compensation is less than adequate. What do you expect?

You see those cams they have posted at certain intersections? Well those cams are recording them also so they cant be out here running amok on the public like years past so that may be contributing to it.
