Generally a rule of thumb I go for when dialing in preload on the springs, is about a half inch spring compression in the front. Different manufacturers may be different or even come with a preset preload and not recommended to change it. As far as the rear, put the wheel on with a couple bolts....adjust the collars on the spring perch, then jack up the suspension so it's sitting on the suspension and not on the lift as much as you safely can and see where it's at. Trial and error and adjustment....continue to adjust the rear spring perch until you get the height where you want, then roll in the shock in to match the height. The weight of the car is the preload.

Love your videos man! I had a 2016 GTI Autobahn up until today when i rear ended another car at 45mph. Now im a former gri owner! I had a dp and tune ready but not anymore.

Instead of taking out the axel, I removed the 3 bolts at the bottom of the control arm and pushed down on the control arm and lifted the ball joint bolts up off the control arm. That way I didn’t have to take out the axel.

On my mk6 gti I found out after raising the rear on and off jack stands 4 or 5 times if I shortened the rear spring perch by 2cm the ride height lowered by 3cm . This is because the control arm on which the spring assembly sits is anchored towards the centre of the car . ie if you want to lower or raise the rear by 5cm for example only make about a 3cm adjustment on the spring perch up or down . I wish I realised this sooner as it would have saved a lot of work .

You can use a 2x4 with a hole to put bolt through and use a jack to lift strut out of the slot and to place new strut in. . Pretty easy and quick
