Tomato Saar is deliciously tangy and soupy curry that you can make for a quick meal. My mom would prepare this often back home, we all loved it! I have no idea on the whereabouts of this dish and I won’t be surprised if it’s called something else somewhere else.

Ingredients I used:
- 3 large tomatoes (they are the size of my palm) you can use 4 medium sized tomatoes
- water for boiling
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp mustard and cumin seeds each
- pinch of hing
- few curry leaves, 8-10
- salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 and 1/4 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp jeera powder

Procedure:
- Score the tomatoes with a sharp knife
- Boil them for 8-10 mins
- Blend them once they cool - you can keep the peel on, it’s entirely optional
- In hot oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves
- Pour the tomato purée and add all your masalas
Serve hot with some piping hot rice. Enjoy!

Some cloves of garlic 🧄, few pepper corns will give a zing to it making it tasty & spicy

The receipe is awesome and Saar is always tastier than soup.. But please do not mention that it takes just ten mins.. It takes good half an hour to make the right way

In our palghar Region (maharashtra)
we don't add masalas hence its has light red naturally
mostly black pepper garlic, cuminetc are added

Smal tip: add some jaggery to this....my mother always makes it with jaggery and it tastes awesome
