Which countries are the most competitive in the world? The Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development, or IMD, says it has an answer.

And this year, it's Denmark, Ireland and Switzerland. They're among the most digitally advanced nations in the world and, according to IMD, take the top spots thanks to their business policies, infrastructure and education.Germany, on the other hand, has fallen behind to the 22nd place from 15th last year.

The IMD checks 15 key attractiveness indicators. Participants pointed to the stability of German politics, the country's skilled workforce and its legal system.

But Europe's largest economy falls behind with a tax system that participants see as too bureaucratic. The current government scores low for competence, and the general cost of business is higher.

German here. I can confirm that our bureaucracy is a nightmare. And only a few cities offer their services online. Especially when it comes to starting a business the amount of time it takes until you have everything set up correctly is insane

I constantly find myself hearing that Germany wants to import more qualified immigrants yet the people I know who tried to work there couldn't make it because the whole process is a bureaucratic nightmare

Not just the state processes, every single industry in germany seems to believe that the more complex they make their infrastructures and websites the better.
Phone companies, electricity, banks every single service is built to be hard to use and require like 40 hours of unpaid autodeduction self learning to use.

Germany isn't the best place for small entrepreneurs.

Also the culture for sure. Their attitude is not customer oriented. They just can’t be bothered to deliver a better customer experience unfortunately

I was a simple English teacher in Germany, and the process of getting a work permit, acquiring acceptable health insurance, paying taxes, and getting work permit extensions again and again were convoluted beyond belief. And I thought the U.S. was bureaucratic.

Too difficult to do business in Germany. Even small things like registering company or getting a phone number is extremely difficult. Also language barrier for outsiders

My wife is waiting from last 8 months for a visa extension from Ausländerbehörde freising and still not getting any response from them. How do you expect people to come and stay in Germany when a mere visa extension process which should be done within a week takes so long. And this is just one mess in bearacuracy.

inflation can be pursued only so long as the public still does not believe it will continue. once the people generally realized that the inflation will be continued on and on and that the value of the monetary until will decline more and more, then the fate of the money is sealed .
only the belief, that the inflation will come to a stop, maintain the value of the notes ?
however, I believe that this fluctuation a simple part of the journey towards mainstream adoption and eventual stabilization. I think it's more likely for BTC, ETH, XRP to retest the resistance to the upside and then remove lower

How can you have the highest tax rates and get some of the worst services for it in return? I'm serious, WHERE does all that money go?!

yup the bureaucracy and lack of digitisation is shocking. Germany could learn alot from countries like the UK, Denmark, and Estonia

I got admission in German university for masters data science . But they are so burocratic that first they made it mandatory to get a APS verification certificate for documents from their embassy in india then they will issue visa . But i had summer admit in april i summited all documents for verification in January they couldn't verify them till march and my university extended my admission to winter batch . It's june end and they haven't verified documents yet. Already 6 months just to verify documents that can be done easily in india by scanning QR code. But i think Germans don't know this . Even earlier they gave excuse that certificate need to be printed thats why so much late . And Indians told them to just send digital certificates through email. And then they remember that their is something called digital certificates.

Me and my wife we both work 40hours each a week and both of us are qualified.( Software Engineer and CPA)
She is a German citizen and I am on her spouse visa, I‘ve placed a request to renew my visa and it’s pending for 4 months.
The reason is that the the foreigners office in our old address is not transferring my file to the foreigners office in the new address!!!!
We are thinking to move permanently out of Germany.

I am an American and have started and built successful tech companies in both the United States and Germany (Berlin) - I will say that it is absolutely painful to build a business in Germany; I would never recommend anyone start a tech company there. People are great there, cost of talent is significantly lower but the government rules / laws make it impossible for most companies to succeed and a business failure is almost certain to land a founder in bankruptcy and even jail. It is hard to justify taking the risk, especially for a first-time entrepreneur.

Soooo, I tried to see the ranking. No way to find it, not on their website, not anywhere. There is information about everything else, how the information was gathered etc. So the whole point of this RANKING is to SEE it, if you can't see it, what is the whole point of this? The most important information is completely missing and therefore useless. "Information" like this is best ignored.

Ireland being ranked #2 in the world is very misleading. Most folks know that corporations have their money flow thru Ireland but aren't physically established there.
