A small note on the subject of fax machines:
In the survey, using means that the machines are available and usable. It does not mean that you fax a lot here.

But it is practical for some things: when a hospital was hacked and the IT system was not working, the fax machines could be used.

Our authorities do not recognize a signature by scan or e-mail. So if you want to send something faster than by post, a fax is a good solution.

Oh, who am I kidding. The last reason is emblematic of our failure to digitize our bureaucracy.

A lot of things can now be done online with the authorities, but you need a reader to scan your ID card at home and many Germans are suspicious of this for data protection reasons.

Note: The INSM does not have the people, country or society in their best interests.

The INSM is exclusively funded by German employers. A large part of their funds come from the employers in the metal- and electricity industry. Back in the 2000s, INSM paid a German TV series to advertise mini-jobs (less than 80 hours a month) with low wages.

They are an astroturf group that publishes adverts against wealth- and inheritance taxes, tax increases for companies and such when the German government plans on doing such things or when parties consider writing these taxes in their political campaigns.

Yes, yes it really is that bad 🤦‍♀️😖🙄

Actually, the main purpose of INSM is to finally eliminate the "social" from "social market economy" entirely. The other topics are just veiling.

In Spain, almost everything is digital now. Every institution has its own system. Some of them work better than others. The best system, of course, is the Tax Agency, and the worst is for claiming unemployment benefits. :p This one works so bad you usually still have to go in person.

Everything is digital except for contracts and forms in Canada

I’m curious what America would look like. Probably a while forest, unfortunately. 😐

For me the problem not only in burocracy, but mostly in unprofessional work, it is not easy to fire people. That's why civil servants works absolutely randomly and bad.

I was not aware that so many (at least 20%) German companies apparently do not have to communicate with the authorities. Or are they the companies that can still afford a teleprinter?
Otherwise I don't believe the 80% figure ... someone must have cheated.

Fax machines are a stable way to communicate. Email not so much.

The good thing about using paper is, if the computers do break down, people can rely in their papers. -'And since these are documenting important things, it is good that they use paper. Have you all your phone numbers in your iPhone? Have you ever Thought about it to write them in a little Address book, in the case your phone is not available and you depend on your phone numbers. At least you could read them from paper and use from someone else a phone in a worse scenario of an iPhone lost..

A very one sided and not totally knowledgeable view of this young lady here. Just criticizing nothing more.
