I've been looking into diy field phones. They can be made with old phone parts and a simple power supply. They aren't for every situation, but if you have some permanent outposts on your property that you want good solid comms to that can't easily be listened to by others, they may be an option.

There is some useful information, but he has a HAM radio Technician license. I would think that if somebody was really into prep/survival communications, that they wouldn't have the lowest level radio license. Even a mid-level General license would be acceptable.
