I grew up in a world before the internet. My hometown was here before internet. In 2000 we had a catastrophic ice storm. We had no power for 38 days. If you had cash or check you could buy anything you needed at the store. So stores brought out their 1800s cash register and Walmart used a calculator and receipt book. Lucky for me the town I live in only has 5, 000 people and we still know how to do things the old way.

I just turned 48 yesterday. I was raised when there was no internet, cell phones, usb, microwaves, social media etc etc. And the world was a better place to live in then.

People are suggesting snail mail, but when the Internet goes down, it effects everything including postal service so you may not be able to send / receive mail....just something to think about.

It's called reading a book. And write a letter to a friend and mail it

CASH - Have a lot of smaller denominations such as $20, $10, $5 and some smaller. The place that you are purchasing from probably won't have a lot of change. They are used to debit and credit cards.

If the Internet goes down, there is a likelihood that there will be a lot of other problems. The likelihood of an EMP causing the problem is great. A lot of what’s discussed in your video presupposes that everything else is normal except the Internet going down but the likelihood of that is slim. if the Internet is down then grocery stores will not be able to order supplies and food and your stores will be empty. If the Internet is down as you mentioned, all banking is closed and business is closed so you won’t be working. The Internet is down just be aware, that the problems will probably be exponentially greater than what the video is showing. All the more reason to prep. But if an EMP is causing the Internet to go down, your devices will not work. Your car may not work gasoline pumps won’t work. Multitude of other problems. If the Internet going down is the only problem that we’d have to deal with we would consider ourselves lucky.

I misplaced my phone yesterday and didn't find it all day and into the night I finally felt around in my van and came across it. But the time without it I was becoming crazy

Sure many people think they will be able to seamlessly switch back to a non digital entertainment existence, but I think many will struggle. We have become sadly dependent on digital media delivery. A lot of preppers say to have a deck of cards, a few books or some board games. I think after a few hours, you'll be playing 52 pickup. I purposefully backup my media server with 7, 000 movies, 1, 700 TV series, countless music tracks, complete rom sets for my favorite consoles, etc. on to portable external drives. That way I still have access to all my media in the event of a blackout. Simple solar panel, OTG cable and my cell phone is all I need to stay entertained forever. I also have a tri fuel generator, solar generator, so I don't need to slum it and can use my regular TV. Got tons of food, cash on hand so good there. Just need to work more of my SHTF communications.

Better have some beofung radios to see what’s coming. Or some kind of shortwave to stay connected.

Everything runs off the internet in one way or another. The world is no longer capable of not having the internet.

So what. I grew up without computers or cell phone or electronic devices. It was a great time. I hated being cooped up in the house. Being outside was amazing, playing with other kids, playing games, running around without getting into trouble, gardening and other activities. I had a great time.

I have to laugh growing up before the internet existed. Carry cash. Have a regular radio. Have hard copies of all your important documents. Receive and pay your bills by mail (important even with the internet for personal emergencies). That’s how we did it not long ago.

Just remember, stores will not take any money. They close their doors. This has happened to us a few times already no one will take your cash. They can’t get a receipt. They can’t even make change. It won’t happen unless you live around the Amish store so be prepared that even your cash will not work.

I would lament not having YouTube because of the fine men and women who have a skill and care enough to go to the extra effort to teach us what they know. YouTube is merely a vessel. Their politic and stifling of what they believe is true or not is deplorable. The vessel itself should not be praised. The content on how to repair, replace, teach and explain is now our encyclopedia or our Popular Mechanics home help series of books found years ago. Loss of this grass roots knowledge would be horrible.

500 movies, including chick flicks and kids movies, 500+ songs. Cards, chess, Manuals, address book with snail mail addresses, on two external hard drives plus a USB with the important stuff. All in an Em pulse shield. All on solar with a back-up battery. Did I miss anything?
