Hi Greg, Bruce is just demonstrating how to light the torch. In all of the many different configurations we carry the torch you will need some type of regulator and in cases where you will be using larger non-disposable tanks, we recommend using flashback arrestors.
I hope this is of some help.

Thanks for all the how to use tips & instructions, it was more pleasant listening to you rather than trying to make way with the instruction booklet

Mark- I have never heard about the corresponding numbers before! I've been using a little torch for years but keep hearing differing suggestions. Thanks for the info! I have another question unrelated to this topic- is there somewhere you can be reached on the web?

What do you do about regulators and flashback arrestors? are the necessary for such a small torch?

Question about the flames you are showing...I thought we were supposed to have a little tip of yellow at the end of the blue flame. My brother always tells me there has to be a little tip (point) of yellow at the very end of the flame, and that is where the flame is the hottest and that is the part that is supposed to touch the pieces you are trying to solder. That is how I've been doing it, but is that the wrong way? Please tell me when you get a chance. I really feel like I'm doing so many things wrong when I watch these videos.

Just received my new little torch..after using the older one for 10 yrs…tried all day to get going on it, but as soon as I add the oxy, it puts the flame out..maybe starting with the small gas flame is the change I need ..will try tomorrow..thank you for the help

Hi Kristober, I’m not sure what a hho generator is, but we use the little torch with our oxygen generator all the time. We even sell the two together.
I hope this helps.

I don't know what you mean by "work the flame, " and it sounds pretty important.

Hi there,

I just purchased my smith little torch with oxygen/propane disposable tanks (For now), and when I'm trying to light it, it is producing a big flame that almost seems to spit back at me. I'm using a tip 4, and I tried lighting using an open flame on candle as well as a strike ignitor and it did the same thing for both. I tried tightening the tip with a wrench, checked for leaks elsewhere and I don't understand why I can't get it to light. I followed all of your instructions. Do you know whats going on?

I have a warehouse that needs to solder brass fittings together that works off of 2psi natural gas pressure will your product have a large enough tip to solder efficiently under that low pressure? the manual states that i can only use a #2 tip with that pressure but the #2 tip is not rated for city natural gas. any recommendations?

Hello. Can I use this American system with disposable oxy/fuel cylinders bought in Spain ? Do I need a special adaptor?

do you have instructions on how to replace the hoses?

I got the Chinese version... I'm trying to weld bandsaw blades together and even the smallest standard tip is too large. I definitely get a lot better control and it's a lot cheaper than those Cobra torches.

I have a disposal cylinders and preset regulators. Every time it is blowing the flame out from the candle. I only open it 1/4 (fuel) after I bleed the lines b4 anything. I even got a new torch and regulator because I thought something was wrong but it's doing the same thing. I cannot seem to figure out why its not lighting. I've used a candle and stricker and in the stricker the flame comes and goes out but tip still not lit. Please any suggestions. Regulators are open all the way because I do have preset regs as stated

Hey Rio, I've often heard you should light the propane fuel when you are bleeding the tank, rather than letting the propane bleed into the air. Do you have a thought either way on this? Thanks!

what pressure do you need for natural gas?

Hi, I am seeking clarification as to just where MAPP gas fits into the range of gasses available in particular if it can be used with the rosebud tip or not. Thanks.
