I would love to nationalise foreign investments but the CIA keeps eyeing up my oil so I can't 😔

"Zollverein" just means customs union or customs association, translated literally. It was an agreement of all the small German states to create a single market and basically abolish tariffs among them, since these would cripple their economies with that many borders where you would have to pay for your goods every single time. Everyone eventually joined it except Austria, it massively benefited the Prussians and cemented the Lesser German Solution by binding all the small German states to Prussia, pushing Austria to more of an outsider roll.
It existed as a separate, parallel entity next to the German Confederation, therefore their borders weren't the same but they both strengthened cohesion among the German states, eventually clearing the way for the formation of the German Empire.

Victoria 3 is only going up, and has already been revived. I mean, has anyone paid any attention to the player count for only steam? It rarely dips below 6k, and sometimes goes above 10k. They're doing pretty damn good, all things considered. And it seems like theyre only gaining new players, now

This game is not dead yet, and I really hope this DLC will revive it.
I hope Paradox will learn their lesson with this one and stop publishing unfinished games though.

My gripe with Vicky 3 is not the combat system, though it does suck. It's that there aren't any interesting mechanics to grapple with that really demand your attention. The game just sort of drifts by. I mean, even if you suck and don't proactively play with politics or build effectively at all, it doesn't even matter. It's an issue i've had with PDX games since Stellaris but Vicky 3 is the worst offender, launch HOI4 not being far off. Makes me quite concerned for EU5, especially if they're going the simulation-heavy route...

i think taking it in the direction of a proper global politics simulator is the best decision to make

I checked the player counts on steam of vic3 and IR because people keep comparing these game and how vic3 may follow the path of IR.

IR started at around 40K players then kept an average of 1K players, vic 3 started with 80k and as around 9K mean players. While 9k is indeed behind the 15K of Stellaris, 20K of EU4 and CK3 or the exceptionnaly high 30K from HOI4, it is still way bigger than what IR ever had except for launch. Following that I think all they have to do is keep improving the game on a reasonable pace without breaking it too much and they should get to 15K in the next 12 to 15 months. Beyond 15K players I think the game just turn into a cash cow for paradox which mean a decade long support.

It is easier said than done but I think the Vic team can do it. We should be worried if the player counts start declining under 7K for 2 to 3 months because it won't come back up after that.

Bro, I just want an actual world economy in my economy game... Having to manually set up trade routes for any and every interaction between different markets ruins it, plain and simple. EU4 prior to art of war probably still had the best economic system of any paradox game.

I randomly decided to pick up V3 again and it happened to be the day 1.6 dropped! I’ve been hooked ever since, really looking forward to Spheres of Influence

This will make Laissez-Faire absolutely broken. Not only now the capitalists will have more money and so more investment but also everything you build will give you money back when it sells. So you can deficit spend into construction and still be in green from all the buildings bought by capitalists.

Also I'm happy that now making protectorates and colonial administration holds incredible power. Especially dismantling china and puppeting parts of it or forcing investments into china while having treaty port there.

Liberalising as quickly as possibe while mantaining gunboat diplomacy will be so disgustingly OP.

For example if as a US I have 1, 5B GDP in the endgame that is being hold back only by not enough resources. What will happen if I can just go around the world puppeting and forcing myself into their markets in much better effectivness, never pricy oil, rubber, opium, silk nor any basic material?

Language and religion should be a facilitator when forming a power block with other countries that share the same language and/or religion

Zoll is customs, you can see the word Zoll used at the border between Germany and Switzerland (only real life application I have personally seen).
Verein can be used to mean a club or group of people, or in this case a union. In German you’ll of sport Verein, which are sports clubs for example

I just want puppets to be viable. Whether that’s foreign investment or it’s the ai actually building up resources like rubber, oil, and other rarer amenities, idc

The Power blocks just sound like slightly modified versons of Federations from Stellaris

Zollverein (pronounced "Tsollferine" in german) more or less just translates to Toll Union or Customs Union. Nice to see that finally implemented, which means itll be much easier to get many of the small german states into your customs union sooner^^ but as you said forming all of prussia will be harder in exchange, will be fun to see how it gameplay in general

vicky 3 is so underrated like istg people need to focus less on the negative aspects of it and enjoy the great parts like the economic parts, while not perfect still really fun to see your nation have the largest gdp, sol and literacy

Damn, only 8k people playing Vicky 3 right now. I am not surprised really, at launch every nation felt like they played the exact same other than one or two events.
