Why should we boycott Amazon?

In 2020, Amazon announced that its key UK business paid just £14.46 million in tax in 2019 - a 3% increase from the previous year, despite pre-tax profits growing by more than 35%.

We have estimated that in 2017 Amazon’s tax avoidance from profit shifting alone cost the UK £52million.

Amazon promised in 2015 that it would begin to pay a fairer rate of tax. Yet the online giant - which has a market value of over $1 trillion - has refused to keep its promise, at a time when public finances are more vital than ever before.

They have overpriced stuff and have lousy customer service. They don’t deserve to be a tech giant.

and you mean all taxes we've been paying all these years as income tax etc., all are invested for us (or it's only to fill deep pocket of government's people), tax is waste of money and ends up nowhere, but they makes you believe all services we have are come from taxes and they are out of money

The argument to that is corporations don't actually pay taxes. Their customers do. If they were to pay these taxes they are legally skirting it would be calculated as a production cost, raising the price of their goods. The company would still collect the same income and the consumer would pay more. If you want Amazon to pay these taxes, tell them you want higher prices to cover the taxes and shop elsewhere until they do.

Buy local ! From small businesses as much as possible. We need to do all we can to help decentralize wealth and power.

If these people really wanted to be part of a union they would vote in but they're too scared. Grow a pair and vote yes. I helped start a union once some voted no but they still got the benefits when the teamsters were voted in.
