What is VCCPLL_OC on Skylake and newer intel CPUs?

TL;DR: set VCCPLL_OC to 1.2V for accurate temp readings. More VCCPLL_OC is also safe(upto 1.35V). Less than 1.2 is potentially dangerous because your CPU's thermal protection won't kick in properly.

this could probably have been a bit shorter and bit more firm on some of the statements made but honestly I can't be bothered to care.

so low VCCPLL_OC results in AMD FX syndrome

Zoid, how is your 7700k at 4.6 getting 1010, i can only get 980 :(
Does Ram at 3733 make that difference from 3000?
Just checked again my z170 extreme4 from Asrock doesnt have VCCPPL_OC only VCCPLL :(

Funny that u mention sitting in a cold room i live in a really cold city in canada and i get super nice overclocks sticking my pc in the window

Do you cover the BIOS in GA-Z170X-SOC FORCE?

Single digit temps? Whoa! Its totally real, guys, buildzoid just invented a way to end global warming, and by thermodynamics, he's also creating free energy! This man is a genius!!!

JK, I like that you pointed out its wrong, so many people with FX say, "but, the heatsink is hot, that doesn't mean the CPU isn't running colder than the room..." (major facepalm, that's not how heat transfer or Thermodynamics work, or even logic for that matter, its just obviously wrong)

You buildzoid you can get rid of that disk check thing ya know

So ur telling me is if I lower the voltage too low its causes problems?

On ASRock this voltage is called VCCPLL. I try this on Z170 OC Formula and lowest value (1.1V) gave lower temperature but not unrealistic like colder than ambient temp. On Z370 Taichi however almost no different between 1.1 and 1.2V

What do you think of adding 3 digit voltage displays to modded GPU's, normal and zombie mods. That way you wouldnt need to hook up a big multimeter and it kinda looks cool or do you think they are too inaccurate. Good ones have a claimed accuracy of 0.1% and they are not even expensive. For the average+++ overclocker it would also be cool to put such a voltage display on to a motherboard to show CPU voltage read from the back of the socket or something.

Build zoid any thoughts on my problem? So i am trying to get some info on why my 32gb kit of g.skill trident z rgb 3200 cl 16 wont overclock past the 3200 mhz on ny 8700k on a gigabyte ultra gaming z370. I can tighten the timings to 15-15-15-30 with a tRFC of 450 and tCMD 1 i cant get the trfc below 450 no matter what and i cant get the ram over 3200. I have tried voltages all the way up to 1.9 and timings at cl20 trying to get over 3200. Do i just have a shity kit of memory or do i need to get a new motherboard? Thanks for the read and i hope someone has some advice for me. Also my cpu is at 5.1ghz at 1.31 volts

Hey buildzoid where do you get your data sheets from?

Interesting video. I have an Asus Z170-Deluxe motherboard and i7 6700K CPU. HWiNFO64 showed CPU PLLs OC at 0.6 volts. Changing PLL Bandwidth to Level 4 raised the CPU PLLs OC to 1.16. (Level 5 goes to 1.312 volts). I also changed the DRAM Eventual Voltage from Auto to 1.2 volts.

Zoid your da man!
I have Asrock z170 extreme4 /7700k and dont have a VCCPLL OC but just VCCPPL and if i lower it from 1.2 to 1.1 my temps drop massively giving false readings and impacting thermal protection.

I set my VCCPLL OC 1.1v and check my temp with a thermometer by placing it near cpu .temp difference only about 3~4c with hwinfo readings .Also my idle temp on all cores 33~38c (ambient room is about 28c ~ 30c) .Seems it does not mess up the temp readings whatsoever .
