The xfiles shouldve ended after season 6 in terms of having a good story. The final scene should've been after this episode, when they are in Kersh's office looking at pictures of the chard syndicate bodies & the execs ask Mulder "what does this mean?". He replied "all bets are off".
They should've left it there imo.

The irony of this scene, they had decided that trying to aid the Rebels in fighting the Colonists would be suicide... And here the Rebels kill them (almost entirely) for collaboration.

Somewhere Well Manicured Man must feel vindicated given he was the highest ranking member of the Syndicate (in the modern era anyway) who argued they should try and fight the Colonists. He was right and they all voted against him and here they pay the price for that error.

I was fine with them killing the syndicate but I felt bad because of all the children in the warehouse. They didn’t have anything to do with the planning.

The rebels are ruthless. Even the children. That adds to the story in my opinion.
