Yeah, in comparison to most countries we're pretty direct, but definetly not as direct as portraied in this video....

Absolutely not true, I know a hand full of Germans who would be honest about the food but those are very extroverted ppl specifically. Usually Germans are not keen on causing any discussions or discomfort and will choose silence over confrontation.

If you do not want to hear the answer, do not ask.

Like someone once said:
"How are you?" in the US it's a greeting, in Germany it's an serious medical question.

Being direct and honest doesn't mean that in any situation we feel the need to share our opinion with whoever we have in front of us.
If I don't like the food, I'll not complain. But if the waiter asks if it was good, I'll also not lie. I'll probably say something like "it wasn't really the way I like it".

The first one really depends on whether you are extroverted or not. I know a lot of german people who would rather eat something that tastes awful than complain.

The second one also depends on who asks. If its your best friend or your sister, yes you will be honest. If you meet an aquaintance you will definitely just say something like good, how are you?

Third one also depends on the relationship to your colleagues and the general work enviroment

Reminds me of a saying I once heard - Germans are too honest to be polite, Brits are too polite to be honest 😅

Thats a huge plus, please have pride in having this basic courage/spine.
In India we are too spineless to speak honestly which causes various corruption and serves the hierarchy.

Hallo.

"Is your country know for being honest?"

Wouldn‘t agree at all. I think our reputation precedes us. Germans _think_ of themselves as honest, while they are really not. What‘s being counted as „honest“ in this country is mostly some back-handed passive-aggressive comment.

Even if you are honest about the food, the servers typically will not care to get it fixed.

I get that this is supposed to be thought provoking, and I know that these exact things aren't 100% consistent in any country, but I can confidently answer "is your country honest?" with a resounding "no".

After doing business with Germans for years, I have the subjective opinion that Germans are very honest in what they say and do.

My country's just opposite of this, be it what

No, unfortunately not. Here in Ireland I find people, unless it’s a significant issue will not want cause offence as that is seen as being very rude. So, will often give an answer that is least likely to cause offence.

After living here 30 yrs I find I do it myself, but other consider me ‘typically British’ and give a direct answer to a direct question, ya can’t win 😊

Germans can be honest, but your unsolicited opinions are not appriciated and honestly I your opinion is only your opinion, and Americans don't have to talk to you anymore. It's true germans don't seem to care about other people's feelings Or different cultural biases .
