Thanks so much. I have been trying to figure out how to do this and even bought smaller line. I even took the head apart. Great instructional video. Thanks.

THANK YOU! I saw the 'STHIL' video, they failed to show you all what you showed me, especially the 'push in/and turn'. Though the 'instructions' said up to 23 ft, so when I fed it through, it was about 22', then stopped taking the line. My yard looks MUCH BETTER. GOD BLESS YOU.

Excellent straightforward video. I ran out on my first spool at a customers house, and couldn't remember how to reload (purchased last season near the end of the year). Ultimately, he offered, so I used his trimmer to finish the job . Three yards to do today, this was a life-saver.

Thanks, your video was a lifesaver and a frustration buster. I toiled for two hours to install a new line in my C26 -2. Didn't help that I misplaced my owner's manual. I've found using a trimer line one size smaller than the maximum works the best. Again, thanks for your help.

Thank you for helping me retain what little sanity I have left.

Thanks for this. I was really struggling as there is nothing about replacing line in the supplied paper instructions.
You did the job with the head off. You don't have to do this . The job is just as easy with the head still attached

I'm angry at how simple this is. Stihl's online manuals are garbage. They don't come close to making sense of this. FANTASTIC video!

Thank you for the video. My dad showed me how to do this but when the time came I couldn't get it to work. Your explanation was perfect and I got it rethreaded without calling dad again. Hahah thank you

You do have to disassemble the cutting head to remove any remaining cutting line from the head. I also loaded mine with 25’ of new .095 cutting line. The book says 26 feet, but I only put 25 feet. I used the tougher black/orange Stihl line.

I’m in Australia and every video that came up on Google and YouTube was for a different head, and the Stihl videos weren’t any good. Yours was the only one that made sense, so thanks! Also these electric ones are far superior to the 2-stroke Sthil I’ve had for years for a quarter acre block.

Best heads ever..love using them..and by the way you can use 3mm line 2 to 3 full arm spans is fine.

OMG THANK YOU! I was loosing my freaking mind trying to figure this out! Searched my manual and it says NOTHING about how to load it. Bought it from the store preloaded with line. Then I got tangled up or whatever and I commenced to completely taking the head apart and reassembling it in a fashion that made sense to me. I was WAY wrong!
Anyway I was about to give up or go completely postal when I found your video.
Thank you my friend. 🙂✌🏻👊🏻

Add comment from grandpa in Texas.
I keep my line to 20 feet, more sometimes is more fiddley to wind and feed. - more so with the 105 thicker line.
I usually cut with a small and old pair of wire cutters. This can give me a ragged end on the cut. If it does not feed through right away I recut one end with a sharp utility/stanly blade on my plastic tool box, a wood block, or the top edge of the plastic trash can.
The clean cut end feeds right through assuming the arrow is lined up.
Finally store your line in a bucket or tupperware under water - even newly purchased spools. Hidden in the Stihl help comments they repeat this a lot. It keeps the line flexible and longer lasting when “working”.
Sorry no answer for that partial spool left over from last time….
