How we set up camp while backpacking! #camp #hiking

Our camp routine while backpacking is pretty simple: set up the tent, cook and eat, hang our scented items, change into a dry layer, and then head to bed!

Today I hiked a 2.2 miler at Olympic NP. The elevation was 3112. That’s probably a warm up to y’all but I was definitely feeling the burn, lol. Y’all are motivating me to want to keep hitting the trails!! 👍🏻

Been married 45 years. The evolution of our relationship includes that we each understand where we belong when we need to do chores. She does her stuff; I do mine. All the chores get done. Now, we’re not locked in. I can go grocery shopping, prepare meals, wash, fold and put away our clothes and clean house. She can carry clothes, wash the cars and gas ‘em up, take out the trash, walk the dog. Things that need doing, get done. We like each other as best friends. We love each other beyond that. When they shared affection they smiled. It tugs on the heart strings.

My husband and I both grew up camping, so when our boys came along we continued doing that, as they hot around 8 and 9years of age, we started backpacking and always had other couples and a bunch of kids up to 18 years old. We did that until the boys went off to school. The memories are so special with getting bears and other animals out of camp and even a mountain lion jumping over our jeep as we went down the road. They have thanked us many times when they realized what they experienced. We are thankful to the boys, without them we would probably not done all the thins we did. We started Memorial weekend and stopped when hunting season began. I am so thankful to have had those wonderful experiences with the boys and all the other kids we took along so they could enjoy too.
