Welcome to my Music Theory Tutorials. In this Grade 5 ABRSM Discovering Music Theory lesson I will continue to guide you through the fifth chapter of ABRSM Music Theory in Practice Grade 5 which looks at Intervals, with or without a key signature. This chapter also looks at chromatic intervals and compound intervals.

I have been teaching music theory for over twenty five years and I’ll help you every step of the way - just as if you were sitting next to me. I have provided free a PDF information booklet with all the information you’ll need to work through the Grade 1 ABRSM Discovering Music Theory workbook, available in A4 and US Letter.

Music Theory is an integral part of any musician’s studies. Understanding the structures behind the music we play supports our practise and performance. Even if you don’t play an instrument understanding how music is constructed helps us to be a more informed listener.

I LOVE music theory! It’s like peeling back the layers of the music to look at the nuts and bolts that hold it all together and make the music work.

I’m still at it. Just the last question I got wrong which isn’t too bad and of course your explanation and diligence meant I saw where I went wrong. A few more pages and then I can worry about intervals when I revise before the practice exam. Thank you again Sharon.

Hi. Thanks as always for these. I'm this far in the Discovering section for Intervals, and the next pages do not seem to be online. Plus Youtube says 6 unavailable videos are hidden. Some glitch somewhere? Help please.
