A few places to explore next time would be swimming in Silvermine reservoir on top of the mountain, shopping in Green market Square in CBD, eating at the amazing Bo-Kaap Kombuis which has views across the city (all local homemade food) and also Noordehoek beach is great. Locals also hang out at Kalk Bay village and Brass Bell & Cafe Roux for live music. Steenberg and Groot Constantia wine farm are in Cape town if you are pushed for time or happy to get a 20 min uber back to the city/BnB. Most locals don't go to main tourist sites and there are gems concealed and worth exploring. Even Observatory hippy suburb for live music

The important thing to note regarding crime stats is that SA has very accurate and transparent reporting. There are many countries in Asia, Africa and S America which are MUCH more dangerous in reality but look safer on paper. Ive felt much more unsafe and had wallets/phones stolen off me in London, Barcelona and India. Ive even seen more random violence in Dublin than in Cape Town. Most of the crime is very far from tourist areas
