Palmar grasp reflex reaction in an infant / newborn. In this video, Nurse Sarah demonstrates the palmar grasp reflex in a newborn baby.

The palmar grasp reflex reaction occurs when you place a finger in the palm of a newborn's hand or make a scratching sensation on the palm. The infant will grasp the finger (or object) and close his or her fingers around it in a grasping motion.

This reflex persists until around 4-6 months of age.
