3M Command Strips Tape is perfect for situations where you may want to move the knife holder or cannot place any permanent adhesive on the wall like 3M Extremely Strong Tape.

We used both of those tapes and neither held over a month. As you said, securing with screws is the best option, if possible

Kia ora! Thanks for this clear and simple video.
Did you use one or two strips of the 3m tape?

This is not a good test. You need to actually use the knife holder for a while before you can tell if it really works or not. For instance, I used the command strips, it works great for a week or two but after a while it starts to unstick and wobble and eventually fail. I tried twice, first time with 3x command strips attached to the back and the second time I tried using 8 strips, it lasted longer but still eventually fails.

I'd like to mount this holder horizontally on the bottom of a hanging cabinet.
You think the adhesive AND the magnets would play along, also for bigger knives?
Thanks!

Use 3m dual lock tape. It will hold and can be removed.

The best adhesive tape I’ve ever used is FastCap speed tape. it is world’s better than these. That said, I still wouldn’t put my knives on a block that WILL eventually fall when the tape fails. Don’t be lazy. Just use screws.
