Digitakt, Syntakt, and Digitone Firmware Updates!

In this video Matthew (aka EZBOT) goes over the features in the new firmware updates for the Elektron Syntakt, Digitone, and Digitakt. Big features include a song mode for all 3 devices and keyboard fold with a scale mode for fast songwriting.

As someone who's been stringing literally dozens of patterns together, often making mistakes and having to start over, to make my weird 6 minute prog songs on the Syntakt, I couldn't be happier. Chef's kiss to Elektron, and chef's kiss for all your tutorials in the past. Y'all are saving me a ton of headache and "which pattern was supposed to be next, what bank am I in? I kind of want to make a bank with a bunch of 1-bar patterns that are a single chord (Dm, Cmaj, E7, etc.) and then use song mode to experiment with chord progressions.

Every time I wanted to play a song on the Digis, I felt like I was dialling in a super long distance telephone number to chain everything. This update is going to make life much easier. Thanks for the overview!

The mute function within the song mode is exactly what we needed. Good job, Elektron!

1:36 Small correction here, you can name the rows yourself if you select the "pattern name" entry (right after empty), which uses whatever name you have set your pattern to. Altho that only really works if you used more than one pattern...

Song mode was what everyone seemed to want. People don't seem hyped about it though. I'm amazed they added it. That's dope!

Everyone is talking about song mode, which is a huge feature. But other additions I think that have been eclipsed by song mode are the option for pitch bend, mod wheel, breath control, and aftertouch! And you can assign these to control any 4 parameters in a sound, so there are basically macros now. Unfortunately you can't record this stuff into the sequencer at the moment but I'm hoping that in a future update that will be included along with smooth motion recording.

The keyboard update on Digitakt is totally amazing!!! Since Syntakt came out, I was badly waiting for these new keyboard features to be fully available on DT and DN, and now they did it!!!! These machines get better and better as time goes on, truly keepers!

dam my jaw dropped when you said song mode. ive been looking at the digitakt for years but the lack of song mode always put me off

Just hoping for some more synth engines on the syntakt and ideally rudimentary sample support too. It’s a near perfect device but the sonic palette feels a little more restricted than some other groove boxes especially due to the only chord engine only being a simple wave table engine.

Really disappointed with their lack of support for the Rytm and Analog 4. They keep rolling out updates for the digi line but completely neglect their flagship devices.

Legato is a god send. Syntakt is way more formidable now

How does song mode work with multiple of these devices? Do you have to create separate songs for each device in order to enable program changes such as mutes that sync along with the song structure laid out in song mode?
