OSU Extension Pecan, Grape, and Fruit Specialist, Becky Carroll, is in the orchard to monitor the infamous insect plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar, in our peaches. In Oklahoma, this weevil is one of the most important insects attacking fruit. In particular, it is extremely detrimental where stone fruits (such as peaches, plums, and apricots) are interplanted with pome fruits (such as apples and pears).

Great Video! Is there a pesticide you recommend?

Great video. Nothing is more upsetting when it comes to gardening than seeing a fruit tree filled to the brim with baby fruit that get a single little hole in them and then fall off prematurely. I will be spraying my plum and peach trees next year.

Ugh did everything right this year good looking peach and now the little babies are attacked by this bug I was trying to go organic and not use pesticides on them What do you recommend in spraying them with? Really frustrating Are there other fruit trees they will effect since I bought pear, plum and apple trees?

Can these curculios be eliminated during the winter when they are in the ground instead of waiting for them to come out and cause havoc?

My concern is to shake the plums off. Why not use a grease band so they can’t crawl up the tree in the first place? They can’t fly. It would save a fortune not to mention health not to spray so much.
