I'm sharing the good. the bad and the ugly about my experience with the plum
curculio. She devastated my plums. Please make sure that you check your plums, peaches, apples and pears and don't sleep on spraying if that's what you're doing to protect your fruit.

Plum Curculio is no.1 enemy in my orchard also. Surround is one of the organic methods I use, and some years protection is better if weather is less rainy. I also add Garlic Barrier Insect Repellent with Surround for extra protection. One thing to know, if moon scars are fresh, that means the egg (eggs), are not hatched yet, and they are just underneath that scar, you would need a magnifier or young set of eyes to see them. At this stage, you can use your nail flush on that scar, and press onto it, squashing the egg. I've read about it somewhere, and it does work, did this many times, the scars on the apples will heal and become almost unnoticeable. If that grosses you out, lift the scar portion and remove the egg with toothpick.
Another protection against curculios are beneficial nematodes from Arbico organics. I will use triple combo this year, three different species of nematodes that are attacking all kinds of pest, like grubs, queen ants, borers etc., both larval stages and adult insects. This method will lower the infestation in your orchard of the current season curculio reproduction from fallen fruit on the ground, if not picked. Follow the instructions carefully. Hope you have better luck with your apples!
