These cookies you made look absolutely beautiful and remind me so much of my childhood, thank you. Every year our German bakery on the corner would make gingerbread men for Christmas time and my mother would walk my brother and I up there and it was some of my happiest memories before she passed shortly after. We didn’t have much money growing up so that was a real treat :)

I am so glad this video is up and people have written ingredients in the comments. I found the recipe on the website in 2024 and made for Christmas and it went down so well at work and with family I ended up making a lot more. I was going to write it up in my recipe book but was dismayed to find that the website was down. Now I have it and will definately use again. I put melted chocolate on some of mine which was more popular but I think the icing is really pretty also. Much appreiciated!

INSTRUCTIONS:

For the cookies

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Soften the butter and add the sugar, vanilla, egg, yolk, & honey

Mix the flour with the baking powder, cocoa powder and the spices, sift and add to the previous mixture little by little alternating it with the tablespoons of milk. Add the rest of the flour until there is a smooth dough. Do not over knead. If it was a bit sticky put it in the fridge for a while.

Stretch the dough with a rolling pin until it is ½ cm thick and cut the biscuits.

Bake for 10 minutes.

allow them to cool completely before decorating

For the Icing

Beat egg white with sifted powdered sugar and the lemon juice so that it is a thick but liquid mass with an electric mixer until it has a heavy cream consistency, add a few more drops of lemon juice or powdered sugar if needed.

Decorate cookies as desired.

*You could also alternately dip the cookies in melted dark chocolate instead

Hi Michelle, I love this recipe, however I'm a little confused - does this video demonstrate a different recipe to the one you have on your Blog? Your Blog recipe lists 3 Tablespoons of milk which is added alternating with the flour, but I don't see that here in this video. Thanks for your clarification, and Happy Christmas!

Hello Michelle, thank you so much for your video, I found it delicious and quite practical, one of the Best I found on YouTube. Could you please send me the recet, I would like to have the exact amounts needed. That would be really helpful to me.

The video doesn't really coincide with the written recipe - no milk and orange zest instead of lemon one (though the zest on the video is looks like lemon). Can deal with zest but milk absence is quite confusing...

Hi Michelle. This looks like the lebkuchen I used to eat in my childhood. Do you have a website where I could get the recipe? Thank you so much.

Don't waste your time. I believe she gave up youtube. No replies, so we will never be sure about the ingredients measures. A pity.

Amounts of...? That's not how you present a recipe. I was really looking forward to it because they looked good. I will have to find the recipe somewhere else.
