I started my herb garden when I bought my very old home in 2010. Since I wanted to get a head start on growing, I bought tray after tray of potted herbs from my local garden center along with seeds to stagger the growing coverage. The nursery owner actually warned me of the invasive nature of some of them, like mint and oregano, and I just said "Good! I want them everywhere because deer won't eat them" I'm so happy that I did because I have herbs everywhere and I give clippings and babies to anyone who wants them. My favorites are chive and lemon thyme because they last about 9 months of the year.

I use a 5 gallon fish tank I purchased at my local pet store (on sale too! Yay!) To start my seedlings in. It has a glass top which allows the LED light (or a hanging grow light) to shine upon the soil and seedlings once they sprout. It helps keep the temperature and humidity perfectly. I live in Canada, Northern Ontario and growing herbs indoors is a MUST during the winter as the months are long and cold and I live in a rural area. I find the fish tank great to start seedlings in and I have a 50 & 80 Gallon that I use as my indoor herbs gardens for the winter. Just thought I'd add this in case anyone has an old fish tank laying around that you could use instead of purchasing a mini-herb garden set up for $250 and up! People sell them for cheap online or on marketplace for fb ect, they are used, and that's how I got my 50gallon and 80gallon. Paid $30 for the 50g and $50 for the 80g.

🌿 My favourite herb tip 🌿
You can grow chamomile from the contents of the teabags, as they contain seeds! 🌼
Happy growing! May your harvests be fruitful 😊 🌱

Alwyn! You are one of my favorite people. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I am excited to share this with you, as you have shared your knowledge with us:
If you take a cutting from your Mother's Rosemary plant, pull off the bottom bits and put it in water, it will sprout roots. Almost every time I do this, it works fabulously! I even buy grocery store cut herbs, the ones in the small plastic cartons, and select the best ones. Then I pull off the bottom leaves, recut the bases, and put them in vases until they sprout roots. Then I plant them outside! I have Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano & Sage in my Garden that are 4 years old now!

I’ve used eggshells many times to start my seeds. It’s free and the plants love it! You can also get trays at the dollar store or, if using eggshells, just cut off the top of the container and use that to hold them.

When the shoots have about two to three leaves, gently brush them with your hand to strengthen the stem. Mimics the wind

I need to start a herb garden this year as I've not done it for a few years as I've been grieving after losing my brother, partner and then my sweet Mum.
Gardening really helps me when I'm feeling low. Good luck with your garden and everyone who does one for theirselves. Love your vlogs they help soothe my racing mind.
Blessings love and light ❤💛💚✌

Watch out with mugwort! It was already on the property we live on and it is the most invasive plant I’ve ever encountered! We’ve removed it multiple years and the roots break easily and a tiny piece can grow new plants and spread

While gardening I enjoy a sweet treat, a mint leaf and a stevia leaf. Chew chew yum yum.

I have an oregano plant that is basically a hedge at this point, so watch out for that one too. Maybe give it its own pot.
Also: watch out with sage. It's does cleanse a space but is traditionally used to call in ancestral spirits as well. Cedar is better for purely cleaning a space. Love this video! Those wood labels are so cute!

I was at the garden centre yesterday Alwyn buying my herbs so I was delighted to see this.
My uncle told me to pour boiling water over parsley seeds once they were in the soil😳I thought he was nuts… but I tried it and it’s the best crop of parsley I ever had! Sounds so odd but it really worked xx

I was actually in the process of starting seeds in doors when this started playing. It was a wonderful coincidence. Starting birth her s and veggies because I have short growing season when I live. Happy gardening

I don't have room for an herb garden. I live in the city. The video is beautiful and I love herbs. Thank you! 🌱💚

I got really interested in Herbs after visiting an 800 year old herb garden at Michelham Priory in E.Sussex. I was amazed at the knowledge the medieval monks had regarding their medicinal qualities. I hope you have success with your rosemary and lavender this year. x
