A lot of people are complaining and arguing to "revert the Bedwars update" - claiming that the Bedwars Update Ruined Bedwars and that Hypixel Bedwars is dead. In my opinion this update exposes the fundamental flaw in bedwars where the best way to have fun is to beat up newer players without having to try at all

Genuine question, from a very casual player: wouldn’t skill based matchmaking make bedwars overall better? I feel like when you see youtubers making winstreek videos it is just them demolishing casual players… shouldn’t it be the high rank players competing with each other to ser who’s better? It honestly feels that bedwars leaderboards are just who can kill the most noobs quicker

well i do agree with some points in this video, but 3:48 this point has got to be the stupidest take ive heard in a while.
how is it hypixel's fault if someones account gets stolen because they want to download a cheat ?

I agree. I wanted to return to bedwars with my friends after the holidays but now we don’t really want wanna do that because there will be Sweats all the time.
I mean we have beaten 1k Star parties before but I wouldn’t enjoy it doing it every game

I can see the criticism against the name obfuscation system, but I think the new matchmaking is actually a good change. It's NOT skill-based matchmaking as everyone seems to say, it's simply grouping people with 50+ stars together, which ISN'T a huge difference to for an experienced player since most people in queues are above 50 Stars anyways. But for a casual player it'll not make a big difference and it's far from making every game more of a sweatfest than it already is. Getting 50 stars is much easier now, as mentioned in the forum post, and IMO making the game easier for new players is a big priority right now.
It feels like nobody actually tried to read and understand the matchmaking changes because they where mad about the name obfuscation, but the matchmaking is the good part of this update. But I guess we have seen in everywhere, minecraft players will hate on change no matter what, even if at least part of it is good.

Also, hypixel is already working to improve the anticheat recently. But patching closet cheats isn't as simple of a task as people think it is. To do so, hypixel would also have to fix a lot of lag issues to avoid false flags. And if cheating really became less easy, it's still fully possible to use other means of sniping, like teaming/targetting people instead of bhopping on them. It will not be as easy, obviously, but sniping won't go away just because the anticheat is better.

with matchmaking i dont see any issue. Im an 200 star and my games are not very sweaty. I think its even better than before because now i play with more players that skill is like me.

This is the update is terrible for the game for more reasons than that. Deviding the already dying game into more ques/que brackets (6 is already insane for the player count) is like twisting the knife after u stab. This is just so stupid on so many levels

Just remember. hypixel isn't the only server with bedwars and Did NOT create the mode and were NOT the 1st bedwars server, i'd recommend Gommehd and Cubecraft's Eggwars mode, both servers have a majority player count in Europe so its harder for Americans to play, but if more people join both servers the player counts will rise.

I can 100% attest to this. I've been sniped 2 times already, all blatant. Ive seen 1 other cheater, who wasn't targeting, and not blatant, just reach and hitbox
