I’d say these days just stay away from the Flip 5 and Charge 4 models in general. Because they only use one driver for both bass and treble frequencies the amount of intermodulation distortion that these models produce ESPECIALLY on the Flip 5 just doesn’t sound good. While yes they can produce a surprising amount of bass for speakers their size the vocals and treble on these speakers just sounds gritty and grainy almost. The reason for this being these models don’t come with the benefit of an added tweeter that the new charge 5 has which solves these issues by letting the tweeter produce all of the upper frequencies on its own and letting the bigger woofer handle solely the bass frequencies. Because the charge 4 and Flip 5 don’t have the added tweeter the single woofer in these models has to do all of the work which means it has to move a lot more in different ranges of frequencies and put in a lot more effort on its own in order to produce both bass and treble sounds compared to having a different dedicated driver for each which in turn causes this weird distortion.

The charge 5 looks so good the charge 4 was the best but the 5 looks so satisfying

charge 5 the clear winner, but real world listening around the 80% vol..would make a good listen bec at 100% vol bass is drained on both speakers

I think that the Charge 5 is better in most ways. The Flip 5's bass performance is a little less that what I would expect out of it. The Charge 5 has the amount of bass I would expect out of it. As far as mids and treble, the Flip 5 had louder highs, but not as clear and its mids were a little weak. The Charge 5, the mids were very balanced with the treble. It is crisper and a lot fuller than the Flip 5. Conclusion: The Charge 5 is my recommendation. However, if you have a small budget, I would go for the Flip 5.

20watts vs 40watts and a bigger radius for sound to travel in the speaker, the charge 5 wins by a mile lol i own both

You used to compare them at 60% volume before switching to 100%. That was better than the present 100% only format. Flip 5 sounds fuller at lower volumes.

Clearly a lot of effort went into this comparison. I can't pick a favorite because all the samples were so heavily produced that I have no idea what the artist intended. I need something like acoustic guitar or piano, or a familiar un-produced human voice, to conclude anything.

I think that you should also try them at 60% volume.

Battling the flip 5 at 40% will be the same or better than the charge. You were correct when you said the charge is the Flip with extra volume.

In my opinion the Charge 5 has a much deeper sound than the Flip 5. It sounds a little bit like if the Flip 5 is a Charge 5 in a water tank.
