I put their redneck a/c in front of their solar powered fan about 10/12 inches away it helps spread the love 😊

We did a similar project. We took a cooler. Drilled a hole on the back side and a few holes on the front side lower to the ground, tape the edges of the holes with a good heavy duty duck tape. We placed a small solar powered fan in front of the single hole in the back and placed the front side with the three lower holes towards their cave (corner of their run with a sunshade tarp) the ice lasts longer because the cooler lid is closed and they have a little airflow. It’s so cute to see them relaxing by the cooler. 💕

Thanks for this great idea! We've been vacillating between cool and rainy and 90+ . I almost lost one to heat the other day! I found her in time, but this will be very helpful, I'm sure!

My chickens love sitting on top of their frozen ice gallons. They also love sitting in the shallow cold bath I provide them. 😂 I saw my Easter egger just laying chilling in it when it was over 100 degrees. I'm like share the cool! Lol. looks like I need to get another one.

Put bricks in a disposable foil pan, cold water and ice. They love to stand on it and drink it. It cools the feet and therefore cools them

Last year, very FIRST day of Summer was a shocking 112 degrees F just North of SanFrancisco! Set up my ole cooler on bricks so I could put a small fan below to push cooler air further along! Got a cheap mister & sprayed a ton of water on my dad’s burlap-covered “hot tin roof” over their inside run (despite terrible drought conditions!

Great local feed store suggested that burlap & mister that even the hottest desert chicken-mommas used in the olden days to keep their chooks cool & collected through the searing-hot days!

Then, last year my queenly young pullet Light Brahma, M’Lady, feathered down to her too-hot toesies, quickly learned to regally stand on the water-cooled bricks in the shallow tub I scrub down daily as though it were her private throne! Had to get another for my other seven gals, especially after they get hot & bothered laying their colorful eggs🥚

I put outdoor ceiling fan in the overhead cover/ shady part of the coop to give the girls a constant breeze. Why NOT we have one/ three under the patio for us. Do they deserve anything less? And along with a nice 2 foot mound of loose top soil/ compost to dig a nice 6-8 inch hole 🕳to get some nature cooling from Mother Nature. She provides

I lost one of my chickens to heat stroke. I'm in Texas. I went to Walmart that day and bought a window unit. I legit air conditioned my chicken coop. Plus, they have 2 kiddie pools.

that's why I can't keep my chickens from the porch. the previous owner closed in the porch and sealed the crawl space beneath with fuchsia colored insulation board. they won't leave it alone. next project on this farm is to wall that in.

I have a crazy chicken who loves styrofoam. She is too funny and knows where the ac box is in the basement where they were before they went outside and decimated it I can't leave anything near her cage or leave her out otherwise she'll destroy all styrofoam. I thought I was the only one. I don't know why but yrs she loves it Lily lol she is fine but yes she will ruin any packaging that has styrofoam and she got them. I thought it was just cuz it's tiny pieces they like to peck. I was kinda worried, but she's fine and a hassle to keep her away from that lol. She's very determined

When my chickens were little, they lived in my garage. Well, they ate a freaking hole in the styrofoam insulation on my garage door.

You should just put a cover on it, cut a little hole and put a little gave there

I wonder if the chickens have a pica condition, making the crave Styrofoam?

I thought you'd end with WHY chickens can't eat styrofoam
