How to Launch a Pizza in a Home Oven - the Easiest Way Ever

In this video, we launched a pizza into our home oven using a wooden pizza peel and we launched onto a Baking Steel Original. The secret is to use a wooden peel that has been lubed up with semolina flour. Make sure the dough is "loose" on top like a hockey puck.. Give that dough a little jiggle jiggle just before you go into the oven. Once that oven door opens up, slowly jiggle that dough off by titlting the peel downward and carefully giving it a little jiggle off. Back of the peel goes to the back of the Baking Steel. Close the oven and watch how magically that pizza bakes.

Side note: We love to use the broiler for the first two minutes of the bake.

Actually the easiest way is to prep the pie on a flat sheet pan or pizza pan with parchment paper on it and slide it into the oven from the sheet. After about a minute you can lift the edge of the pie and pull paper out from underneath long before it would burn. . No flour... No mess... No sticking... No jiggling.

Semolina or cornmeal on the peel launch with 1 fluid motion. That's how we do it in the pizzeria anyway.

Use cornmeal or semolina next time on your pizza peel, and it will roll off with ease
