Several factors I think. Saban, as great as he was, never adjusted to the new era of offenses. Playing the style he played early in his Bama tenure he was the man. Nobody could do it better. The last few years there were times Bama looked lost. Saban just looked uncomfortable. Next, Saban had a horrible staff the last few seasons. Nick gave Tommy Rees WAY too much leeway in play calling and running a style that didn't fit the players they had. Pete Golding was an awful hire. Deboer is comfortable and a great staff.
