I'm all the way in Africa and am planning to light up my village this Christmas. This is the BEST TIP from YouTube I've seen in a long time! I especially love the fact that I can afford to water proof my lights with stuff in my trash can!!! 10 thumbs up Chris👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!

That’s awesome and I love that it’s free and we’re recycling the plastic. Good job!

I just watched too many Christmas light videos that didn't explain how to waterproof the connections. Then found this one! Short and to the point. Thank you!

Easy and cheap! Awesome! I have a large Christmas display and when I looked at the price of the waterproof covers...($30 for 6!) I said NOPE! I have tons of disposable clear sandwich meat containers, so I'll be using those with your cutting technique! That's $30 I can put into a new light display! Thank you!

Standing outside with freezing weather in WA state, 11:00 pm, only couple days till Xmas. Realizeing I have way too many unprotected Xmas light cords. Thought to myself okay I'll Google it but it's probably going to take me all night to figure something out. This was 1st video I watched. I'm freezing & tired, thank you Chris- but I'm in bed before midnight Yahoo!

Worked like a charm. I only needed a 12 oz soda bottle for mine. Thanks!

Thank you . I have done this techniques long time ago, if you just cut ad dont cover it, will be worse because humidity from rain gets in and over time it will damage the cords.
You need to glow the cuts from outside so whatever is inside stay completely dry

Great idea! I've always put cord connections in a zip-top bag and stuck a rubber band around the opening, but I'll give this a try.

great idea. being involved in christmas lighting outside for over 13 years ... you can get away with a lot in dry states like colorado .. most of the spt2 cords work just fine in snow but probably more of an issue if you have rain. i like this idea.
