I was having this problem, replaced batteries, still nothing when I pressed the button.
I ran across a YouTube comment on another video that said press lock twice, unlock once then try to start your Jeep. It fuckin worked! 500 dollars and two batteries later, when it was just a Mortal Kombat code

Something that should definitely be a recall. After the problems with my jeep renegade I will never have anything to do with Jeep Dodge Chrysler or Mopar again

A suggested upgrade to the charging system on the Grand Cherokees. Improve the alternator ground to the body/chassis. Explanation below is lenghy, so please bear with me. No idea if this applies to other vehicles. The batteries rely on the alternator for maintaining charge. The alternator is bolted to the engine providing that ground connection. The engine is somewhat isolated from the rest of the vehicle due to the floating engine/transmission mounts. There IS NOT a singular cable connecting the alternator ground back to the battery area. There is a short heavy cable going from one of the alternator attachment bolts to a small weld stud on the frame. This ground cable has a large bolt clearance hole for this small stud, and it is in an area on top of the frame where dirt/debris can collect and potentially hold moisture. Actual clean metal-to-metal contact between the large clearance hole in the cable and the small weld stud can get iffy over time. Check that connection. Clean it. I added a close-fitting washer to improve that connection. I also added and additional ground cable going from that point to an additional location to help ensure good grounding. Poor grounding. Poor grounding can lead to reduced battery charging and sporadic electronic issues. It is worthwhile ensuring that part of the electrical system is functioning correctly. I have a '17.

All advice welcome:

Got a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

A few weeks ago my check engine lights come on and I take it to auto zone to get an overview of what may be the issue. The code they got was Spark Plug and Ignition Coil related as it was misfiring. A week or so later, my car just stopped starting up when I try to crank it up.

I ended up having it towed to a Firestone about 5 minutes from where I live. They told me it’s head gasket related. So basically to get another engine because the engine locked up. Then they proceeded to tell me that there 1 engine available at the jeep dealership and basically wanted me to get work done right away.

I just can’t understand why my Jeep that has 88, 000 miles on it has an engine problem this early despite getting all the routine maintenance done (last time was a 3 weeks ago).

Something tells me they were just trying to get me to pay for an expensive fix but I’m not 100% sure. I want to start by working on the starter but not sure how to proceed because I don’t want to pay for something and that not being the issue. Anybody have any advice on what it could be? Anyone been in a similar situation?

To make matters worst, I’m paying for the car still and I also just got another job that I’m supposed to be starting this week which transportation is definitely needed.

Any information would be grateful. Thanks.

Thank you, but this did not fix the issue. I’m having my Jeep towed to the dealer now.

Couldn’t you just simply disconnect the auto stop/start battery and be fine without it?
