I just bought the book about a week ago. If any of Rick's videos have stimulated any musical creativity in you than buy it. This book is an investment in your future as a musician. Hold off on the new pedal or new soft synth and spend the money here. Long after the pedal is gone and the soft synth replaced with the newest and latest, this knowledge will stay with you and continue to pay off. I'll get off my preachy soapbox now. Thanks Rick for all the videos. Invaluable.

I highly recommend this book! So many books on harmony are as clear as mud and written by professors who are a lot of times just a bit too wordy. This book was put together by a great musician and it shows. So far, at least 3 major hangups I had in understanding modal voicing were cured in the first 10 minutes. Thanks Rick!!!

Just bought the beato book and what a goldmine of info. Its easy to understand, finally the real deal. Im not schooled in music, taught myself basic chordal theory enough to try and navigate through the real book.and within minutes of reading this book it has shown me the errors i made. Things that only a veteran would know. Im a bass player and the book speaks volumes to me .the treble clef parts for example, have exercises where modes types are written by name to solo over a chord progression (standard). So the info is universal and vast. You can print off any page too something other digital sources deny you that luxury.Ive been playing for over 30 years and have bought every book imaginable and this is the best one period. Cant thank you enough rick for sharing your knowledge with us. We are very fortunate.

HI Rick, You are an amazing teacher and have my favorite Youtube channel. I have a music degree and thought it would be a good refresher course, so I purchased the Beato Bundle. I must say there is a lot of information in your book. I am however surprised that much of it is not explained at all. I think it is a great text book, but truly needs your expert teaching skills to accompany what to me amounts to a reference book. Would you please consider doing videos to accompany the book?

Hey Rick, I enjoy your channel and the Beato Book. Just wondering if you have thought about doing a video companion to the book? I could see great value to going through sections and offering some additional content in form of exercise mp3 or musical examples and even call back to other previously covered material in perhaps older videos. Anyway I know this would be a pretty big undertaking, just a thought I had. Thank you for the value you bring for nada and next to nada.

This is an excellent book. Rick would you have for sale, an accompanying dvd to go along with this book? Examples of your ideas applying, to music, the highlights to sections would be wonderful.
thanks

Rick, I just watched your guitar theory in an hour video and it was really interesting. There was so much insight on how an intermediate player can start to improve. I absolutely intend to purchase your book. By the way great job getting that Adam Franklin interview, thats how I learned about you. Love to see more interviews like that in the future.

I would buy it, but I don't like reading books on a mobile platform or PDF. I'm more of a ”Hold the book in my hands kind of person”. If you ever do physical copies of the book in the future, please let me know, I'll get a copy.

During my second band at the age of 15, I took Basic Harmony and Theory courses in high school From that age, to 35, 99.9% of musicians I encountered knew nothing about theory. So like a language, I never really used it....much. Oh, I would correct an occasional bassist to play the right third, but other than that..music theory was like a parallel universe. Although, it did not disappear, my knowledge suffered. In the mid 70's I tired of rock music. So I bought classical guitar, and a book with guitar pieces and started to learn easy stuff. Doing that made me reach deep to try and read the music....slow as hell but I learned some pretty cool tunes.

I got tired of the band scene altogether and bought some MIDI gear (Roland MK50 and a Soundcanvas). To program easy easy songs was simple. But to make complex music, I had to bring up my knowledge again because it was easier to program notation than playing a keyboard to record the data.

From rock and blues, I wanted to get more into jazz. But all my licks and more were all blues based. I know I needed to open up to more knowledge to lift me up...even a little.

I just bought The Beato Book today....and its great to see whats before me. A new adventure in music awaits me.

I see a lot of sheet music, do I need to learn how to read sheet music to read it and understand it?

Rick, if I have any questions upon buying the book, is there any forum where I can ask questions and get answers?

Hey Rick, I was looking at previews. I'm almost a beginner in theory. I really need something to tell me what all the vocabulary means. like "Diatonic Triads" What does that mean? And how can I apply it in music? Or the same thing about a Harmonic Minor Scale, does your book go over this in explanations?
