Come with Gimbal Walk TV as we take a walk from Porthminster Beach, and through St Ives town centre to the beach and harbour to see what this famous Cornwall holiday destination is really like.

In todays gimbal walk tv video we explore the seaside town of St Ives, a favourite for family holidays in Cornwall and south west england.

St Ives, nestled on the dramatic Cornish coast, is a picturesque town renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant art scene, and charming atmosphere. With its cobbled streets, whitewashed cottages, and stunning coastal walks, St Ives offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.

Beaches and Coastal Walks
One of the main attractions of St Ives is its stunning beaches. Porthmeor Beach, the largest and most popular beach, is a surfer's paradise with its golden sands and consistent waves.

For a more secluded experience, head to the smaller beaches of Porthgwidden or Trenance. The coastal paths around St Ives offer breathtaking views of the coastline, including the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse, which inspired Virginia Woolf's novel "To the Lighthouse."

St Ives has a thriving art scene, with numerous galleries showcasing the works of local and international artists. The Tate St Ives, a branch of the renowned Tate Modern in London, is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, featuring a collection of modern and contemporary art. The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is another highlight, showcasing the work of the renowned British sculptor.

St Ives boasts a vibrant food scene, with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and pubs offering delicious local cuisine. Fresh seafood is a specialty, with many establishments serving up delicious fish and chips, crab sandwiches, and other seafood delicacies. For a more casual dining experience, head to one of the many cafes offering Cornish pasties, ice cream, and other treats.

St Ives offers a delightful shopping experience, with a range of boutiques, shops, and galleries selling everything from local crafts to designer fashion. The town also hosts regular markets, where you can find unique gifts and souvenirs.

In addition to its beaches, art, and culture, St Ives offers a variety of other activities for visitors. You can take a boat trip to the Isles of Scilly, visit the St Ives Museum, or simply relax and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the town.

St Ives is well-connected to the rest of Cornwall. You can reach the town by car, train, or bus. There is also a regular bus service from Newquay Airport.

St Ives is a captivating destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you're seeking stunning beaches, vibrant culture, or simply a relaxing getaway, this Cornish gem is sure to leave you enchanted.

5:59 Lands End is NOT the southernmost point of the United Kingdom. That accolade goes to Lizard Point which is 35 miles from Lands End and 27 miles from St Ives. Apart from that...great video!

A few dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's" The two beaches Tuffy mensions are actually spelt Porthmeor (which is the surfing beach) and Porthgwidden which is on the Island and has a double decker arrangement of beach huts and a restaurant. Finally the "Warren" is so called because before all the houses / cottages were built it was a heath/moorland type of area and yep, you guessed it, was overun by our little bunny rabbit friends, hence the Warren name. We are fortunate to be in St Ives in a fortnight for a fortnight, praying for the Indian Summer. We stay in apartments in Carbis Bay and go into St Ives on the train. £1 each way. Excellent value! To me St Ives is a "foody heaven" with so much variety and super restaurants. Neil, as ever, a fab video and included some "off the beaten track" views of St Ives that most folks wouldn't see.

Fantastic place, in great weather. When ever I drive down there I get to Exeter and think I'm nearly there, but it a long slog still from there. Great video

Great video. Been there many times but usually in summer when it is much busier. Had lovely meals in a little restaurant called the Hobbler. Tuck away on the front. Believe it's now a home. Going back next week round the other side or maybe stroll along to Carbis bay.

Sorry but now I have to be a know it all sausage. Land’s End is neither the most southerly nor the most westerly point on the mainland U.K. That would be The Lizard and Ardnamurchan point (in the Highlands) respectively. Lovely to see St Ives on a beautiful day. Excellent video as usual.

You did St. Ives proud!👍🏻
I’m interested to know the date this was filmed. I’m guessing late April, early May with the new foliage just coming out.

I have visited St. Ives several times. There are 5 beaches. You only showed 2. You missed Porthgrithwen beach where the island is, Carbis Bay and Porthmor around the other side. Lovely video though.
