You can catch the train from st lives, the branch line to carbis bay. Or you can drive into hale train station park and ride back on the branch line back 1 stops at carbis and then st Ives. And then back to hale to pick up car, whichever one it’s loverly scenery. At carbis walk down the hill to carbis beach, hard walk back up though. Great respect for Cornwall people, keep it clean take rubbish home, don’t bury dog poo. It’s there for all of us to enjoy 😊. Thanks

I'm Cornish and am lucky to have lived here all my life. However don't confuse the idyllic life on holiday with the life of many local people, struggling to make ends meet with low paid casual work. Add the housing crisis by people buying up homes for holiday lettings and pricing local people (cleaners, care assistants, teachers, dentists etc etc) out of the housing market, both for buying and renting. The community is dying.

My wife and I visited from the States in Sept. 1995. My father was stationed there for a year with the 29th inf. division before leaving for the D Day invasion. Beautiful town, friendly gracious people. We stayed at the Pedna Olva right on the water.

I first went to St Ives young and in love with my wife to be, 35 years later and married with 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren we still love to visit. It feels so homely to us all, my daughters now visit regularly. Can’t wait to go again, we get homesick. 😎

I bought a colouful painting of St Ives bay for my wall and I've never been to st Ives or seen what it looks like till this video, I paused it at the same angle the painting is at, it's by Jo Gough and I got it from the Range shop who had about 20 canvas prints, its like a little window in my wall to sun, surf and sea and an impression of colourful wild flowers! What a lovely day to be there, I must visit if I ever holiday again in Cornwall! 💁‍♂️

Beautiful views, we go every September. Cornwall was originally (well, 100+ years ago) advertised as a winter holiday destination. I have lived on the North West coast all my life and worked in the Hotel trade which is where all my income has come from, not as pretty as Cornwall but we rely on the tourist trade heavily also and there are second homes here as well. So we can't all have what we want. Good video, well done! And yes, we also call the tourists "grockles" as well as they do in Cornwall!

St Ives is my happy place. We go every year and stay with local b&b’s and support the local economy. Apparently 300 years ago my ancestors worked in the tin mines, so I feel like I’m coming home. My fave place for a special treat, Porthminster Beach Cafe - food is heaven, and Barbara Hepworth museum is fascinating piece of history. Plus watching so many clever artists at work in their studios. Thank you for making my day, sat at home withCovid for company, so this lifted my spirits 🥰

St.Ives was my summer home during school holidays in my younger years till about the age of 16, back in 1978. I had family in Carbis Bay, just a short distance away and my brothers sisters and I lived with them during those weeks every year. I haven’t been back since 1999 but I should. This was nostalgic! ❤️

Great vid thanks! We love to visit St Ives when we’re in Cornwall. We park at St Erth train station and take the GWR train to St Ives, via Carbis Bay. The views are just stunning.
