FT: Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Liverpool

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham team beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Carabao Cup (League Cup) at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as Arne Slot's side struggled against the fierce Spurs side in the first leg.

Liverpool had the likes of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz but could not beat Spurs.

Antonin Kinsky made his debut for Tottenham and was very impressive and Lucas Bergvall starred alongside Archie Gray and others.

Should Lucas Bergvall have been sent off and shown a red card?

Spurs travel to Anfield for the Carabao Cup second leg next month but face Tamworth next in the FA Cup and Arsenal in the North London Derby in the Premier League (PL)

Tottenham look like they will sign Randal Kolo Muani from PSG (Paris Saint-Germain)

Also like to wish Rodrigo Bentancur all the best

Tottenham Hotspur have not been quite as active in the transfer window this summer - only signing Archie Gray from Leeds United and Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC, Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth and Wilson Odobert from Burnley - but over the last few years under Ange Postecoglou Spurs have been building a top youth side.

With the help of Daniel Levy, Scott Munn, Johan Lange and Fabio Paratici Spurs have lowered the average age of the squad to 25.

The Premier League is heating up with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Luton Town, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Wolves aka Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leicester City.

The former Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham squad include Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-Min (손흥민) Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin, James Maddison and Dane Scarlett, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Lucas Bergvall, Mikey Moore, Archie Gray, Yang Min-hyuk, Wilson Odobert, Dominic Solanke and Luka Vuskovic.

Kinsky is going to change the way we play. He plays out from the back, but realises that doesn't mean you have to pass to the CB's everytime. When Liverpool pressed the CBs, he passed to Spence and Porro further up. When they moved to block them, he played the ball further up. Then if Liverpool sat back he played to the backs. Great work changing it up and not playing 1 dimensional football.

Ange is like Spurs long lost dad. Yeah he can be stubborn sometimes, but he knows what's good for you if you'd listen to him

Amazing result. Will still be difficult times ahead but hopefully everyone stands by Ange.

To all those Ange haters think about what any other coach could do with this decimated squad. Maybe two or three spots higher up the table? Think of the future, it’s staring you all in the face. Be patient and the rewards there.

A bit of self belief goes a long way and Ange's mix of youth and experience could be a very difficult opponent for anyone after last night's courageous effort against a world class team. With some of our injured guys back for the Anfield game, we can certainly win! there COYS!

Have you noticed that people have stopped saying Spursey? Is it because this young team have a fighting spirit and are prepared to run until they are completely fatigued?

Buzzing, great win and performance mate and was happy to see us set up properly, for once!

Where are the "Ange out" losers? Don't care... I would love to see all our young players start against Tamworth, let them shine! They've run rings around our "senior" players, COYS!!

Liverpool played close ot a full strength side, you forgot they also had Jota, Mcallister, Allison, Curtis Jones and Trent, Diaz and Nunez came on and we still kept them quiet at times.

We may be 12th on the table, but... but.... beating City, United and Liverpool this year tells you everything you need to know about the development of this team.

Let me say this about Kinsky. In my opinion he is better than Vicario because he doesn’t hesitate and once he makes up his mind he executes and passes the ball quickly. The game is played in between the ears. He is a thinker. That is what Angeball requires. No half baked unsure players. He gives the team rhythm and momentum . Spurs should fill the team with more wonderkids . Bergval trying to pickpocket the Liverpool goal keeper. Spurs need players who throw caution to the wind.

Mate, firstly im going to say i was wrong and that I personally think Ange should be given another season and stay at this club. He has been unlucky with injuries and with a slightly bigger squad i feel he allows us to play this attacking football. I told you Bergval would come good as ive watched his potential here in sweden, he just needs confidene and game time. This game they showed so much fight that was so good to see. Loved the new goalies confidence, great with his feet, feel a bit for Austin though. Thought Spence was epic! and Johnsons tacking and not giving up was immense. COYS

I love the keeper, the whole team played very calmly and purposefully.

Bang on about Archie Gray. Can’t wait to see him in the 6, with VdV and Romero behind him and Bergvall and Kulu running the show.
