These are usually rabbits in my yard. Especially if a lot of fur is there, there's likely babies the in nest. They're not abandoned, the mom checks on them a few times a day.

I have a lot in my yard. I know there is a large rabbit in one as I've seen it go in and our of it, but there are also a bunch ot toads in the other ones. Doesn't bother me, I like both especially the toads for insect control, but why the rabbits choose my yard when I clealy have a cat is beyond me.

My property is riddled with holes like those. How I wish they held baby bunnies. In the part of the country where I live, they’re made by big Norway rats. You can find them all over the 48 states. They devour your vegetable crops and strip your fruit trees of every juicy piece of fruit you’ve waited all summer for before you can even pick one, and yes, they live underground.

I was digging in my garden spot one day and by chance uncovered a nest of baby rabbits. I was puzzled why I could never find an entrance hole anywhere and now I know why. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for sharing this info! I found one a couple days ago and filled it in using a high pressure hose. I went out there this evening and it was a hole again, in the same exact spot. I have seen rabbits in my neighborhood… so, I will just leave it alone and let them do their thing.

I found this same next today after going over it with my lawnmower. I saw movement and I thought something got killed cause there was rabbit fur covering the hole but no a bunch of new born baby bunnies. I could never cover the hole and suffocate innocent animals, I'm human

Skunks digging yellow jackets.
rabbits by us dig a shovel full of dirt out drop babies and cover with belly fur and grass not buried with dirt otherwise they would suffocate.

Baby rabbits have no scent just like young baby deer so it is hard for predators to find except hawks can watch for babies to move around under fur covering

I have 2 holes like this near my front door, but its frustrating because I dont know what animal is causing it? Is it a rabbit, or a chipmunk causing this? How do I tell???? 🤔
