They probably built a mockup and will update it as technology improves.

Same problem faced by the USAF in procuring the f22 - a highly advanced aircraft with an unaffordable price tag.

If the USN is to procure the fa-xx in numbers envisioned to achieve air dominance, they may have to resort to a financial structure similar to a housing mortgage plan.

As much as I would like to see another Virginia class sb, it can o nly be on one place at a time whereas the equivalent monetary output in aircraft can be in many places simultaneously.

I think the Air Force has far too much say so in what happens in programs going forward. It seems clear to me that the Air Force is dictating whether the Navy gets new fighters or not.

I still want to know how we allowed Lockheed Martin to go forward in its F-35 program after all the billions of dollars and cost overruns we still allowed them to go forward in producing the F-35 which, by the way, is an asset that REQUIRES other assets in order to be effective
