Spoke with a retired Lockheed-Martin engineer about a year ago and asked what’s next after the F-22. Simply asked if it would be manned or un-manned. He said, both and we left it at that.

Electrician here! I wired the platforms those jet engines were assembled on. I got to see some of the assembly process. It was awesome! Some of the parts were cooled by liquid nitrogen to shrink them then put into place and heated, the part expanded and was now installed. They used cranes on beams in the ceiling to move each engine from one platform to the next. On each platform there was a giant circular lift in the center of the workspace. 4 lifts on each side to lift carts/ materials ect and workstations for 4 techs to do their work... countertops w/ tv's and outlets... their tools were job specific. Each tech had his tools in foam cutouts at the worksstations. It was really cool to be a part of.
