The Innocents (1961)

Modern Trailer Edit by Dan McBride

Part of my trailer project - breathing some new life into older, forgotten or overlooked films.
Mainly to spread awareness of these great films and hopefully inspire more people to
seek them out.

Director - Jack Clayton

Synopsis - A young governess for two children becomes convinced that the house and grounds are haunted.

This October, don’t sleep on this gothic horror from 1961 - it still holds up quite well today! Beyond having some of the most beautiful black & white anamorphic scope photography I’ve ever seen, it has many psychological layers to it, and quite cleverly leaves them open to interpretation. Not to mention it has child actors that don’t suck! — DM

I saw the film upon release in 1961, I was just a boy. I was mesmerized. I've loved this film always. I've never appreciated the original trailer, this is perfect.

Beautiful film. Also, this song, coupled with the figure standing on the other side of the pond... Chills.

Creepiest ending to a movie ever, fantastic edit as usual. I really wished that there would be more anamorphic horror films during this period because this is a beautifully composed movie.

Wow this is really well constructed. If I saw this and didn't know better, I would think it was coming out this year!

I remember watching this movie almost 10 years ago. I feel like "The Others" is partially influenced by it.

Nowhere does it say that the story is based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James!
