Aw, come on, man! Why would you go to the extent of desoldering the BIOS chip - most people do not have the know-how or the BIOS chip reader/clearer. If it's gonna be that hard to wipe the BIOS password (which is usually done by tapping the reset jumper on desktop motherboards), then this is a lost cause and chuck the laptop in the garbage.

What a gyp! All you need to do is remove battery, remove the memory, plug in the power cable & hold power button down for 15-25 secs and Bios is reset to factory (works on ANY HP laptop!) Check with HP before you destroy your laptops or pay an ‘expert’ for ‘advice’!
